I watched it last night. I don`t recall anything about it back in 1999. I was pretty busy with my career back then and had several major things going on back in the summer of 99 as well. It was pretty disgusting what people will do when there are no consequences for their actions or boundaries. It was disgusting to say the least. I have always wondered what would happen to society if $hit were to hit the fan. I think the Woodstock 99 concert is how lots of younger people would act.

Awesome concert event and was an amazing time.

Don’t believe everything you hear in the media, the news, or things that a “documentarian” will say.

You put a couple hundred thousand people in an unhealthy environment, dehydrate them, and add in substances + hot temperatures with no shade and bad things will happen.

Rockfest showed that giving them water bottles gives them artillery.
Maybe dehydration would have been a good thing

Those idiots were throwing gallon jugs of water...8 pounds...from the upper sections of the stands down onto the people in the lower sections.

Absolute insanity. I know when it is time to split out of a joint, and that was the time, for me.

Let's put it this way...

The venue was ill managed, which led to concert goers distain, then add to that the music of a great time which was chock full of angst against the system, equals one explosive event.

I had friends who went and left due to the filth that was starting to pile up, people were were using the ground as their restroom in some areas, then the rain, etc. piled it on. My buddy David C had borrowed his dad's 4wd SUV and was able to get out through the mud, but barely. He took 6 and 5 were pushing for about a 1/4 mile to keep the vehicle from getting hung up. They stripped down to their underwear and left their clothes at a nearby dumpster. Nothing they could do but laugh. Looking back, he still thinks that could have ended a lot worse. Drunk frat aged men, no rules, and women practically naked is not a good combination.

The folks hosting the event lost control, which made anarchy a thing. You know it's bad when MTV quit hosting live shows and basically pulled their feed until the mayhem ceased.

You may not think the media is right, but in this case, it wasn't missing the mark.

Eddie Gossage almost got arrested at Rockfest. He has a heck of a story about it. Apparently, they went way longer than scheduled, and at the end of the show, the promoter said that the Nixons were going to go on and do a set. Eddie said it wasn't going to happen and told someone to go over and start unplugging gear. That apparently started a big dust up that got the FWPD involved and had Eddie in cuffs for a hot second.

I don't think the Nixons ever went on...but I'm not sure, because like I said, I was long gone by that point.

I’ve been to several outdoor concerts, a few Georgia jams and a few champagne jams at grant field, none of them went off without a hitch. I remember it taking 8-10 hours just to exit one GJ, miserable

I think I was 18 and rode a Kawasaki 1200 with an enormous styrofoam ice chest tied down on the back to an outdoor David Allen Coe concert. They made all the motorcycles park in the same area and I was in the middle of the largest Hells Angels gathering ever assembled in Oklahoma. Thought I was probably going to die but I gave out a couple beers to the closest ones to me and they got me so high in the parking spot I don’t even remember the concert or riding back home.

Think I spotted four or five of y'all on the footage.

It was held at the old Lewisville race track/drag strip.

When the track was demolished, they left the scoring tower and announcer's booth standing. Stayed up for years. If you remember back in the 80's and 90's, when you'd drive that section of 35 through Lewisville, there was a thing that looked like a flying saucer way up on a pole just off to the east of the highway. That was the scoring tower.

They had a drag strip out there along with a road course.
