Anyone put their hands on the new Minn Kota Quest and is it competitive to the Power Pole motor?

I've had my Quest Ultrex for over 2 months now. Looked long and hard at the PP Move but too many things I didn't like about it

I've had my Quest Ultrex for over 2 months now. Looked long and hard at the PP Move but too many things I didn't like about it What did you have before and what made your final decision? TIA Had an Ultrex before. Was 6 years old and put through hell. I figured Minn Kota has been in the trolling motor game a long time and an updated version could only be better. My take so far is the mount is beefier and more sturdy. The bushing system has been upgraded and it now has two lift assist cylinders. The brushless motor is way more powerful. Old Ultrex on max speed would hit 2.8 - 2.9 mph. The Quest hits 4.0-4.1, uses a lot less battery power and is quieter. I looked at the Move several times and the more I saw the less I liked it. Yes, is has a lower profile and is lighter but they over thought some stuff. The foot pedal for example, it only has the button to power the prop. spot lock, reverse and 3rd acc. button are external and need to be mounted on the deck as if its isn't already crowded up there enough. Power switch is an external display panel. Again something else to mount externally. Had all that been in the foot control I may have purchased it.

Any details why the Move is $1000 more? I like the move but wondering if price may get closer to the Quest.

Also unless you want to drill new holes in your bow you'll need a $300 adapter plate as their mount pattern is different from everyone else. Just something else that turned me off.

The Move having the Anchor button external is a major positive to me. I hate always accidentally stepping on that button.
I can backlash toilet paper.

Prices will only continue to increase, they won’t go down, not even a tiny bit.

AMAZING and MUCH IMPROVED over the original Ultrex. In a side-by-side visual comparison---lots of upgrades--everything looks new and improved. The mount is stouter and has wear protectors in strategic spots. The pivot point is stouter. The dual assist shocks are marvelous. Even the power cable from pedal to head is beefed up with a LOT of insulation. Wire coil to head has been changed for the better with less chance of getting tangled and or pinched. Better cover plate where wires enter and exit the head and steering box. The shaft clamp is larger with a total redesign and should be less prone to slip. The steering box is bigger and has a lot less slop where the shaft goes through. The shaft itself is larger and of a different shape. The brushless motor has a more streamlined shape and should not be as prone to water intrusion. More than two small bolts that keep it together. Redesigned props should reduce chance for vibration. Even with a target lock and mega live attached the deployment and stowing is easier. It latches smoothly in both positions with a solid click. The brushless motor is quiet- at first I thought it was not coming on. The steering box still makes motor noise when turned. Spot lock is MUCH improved. My old Ultrex would drive you nuts when there was no wind and was prone to turn the wrong direction until it would bottom out the foot pedal then have to turn 340* to get back where it needed to be. None of that with this new one. The self-positioning motor is SWEET. Another plus is when you have one of the navigation aids on and raise the motor---it kicks off and positions the motor for stowing the instant you pull the release cable. IMO, they did their homework on this one.

The current old ultrex is extremely tough- hope the new one is as good or better. I’ve beat on mine so many times against rocks, use it as a front power pole, etc. I have to be on borrowed time.

Wonder if the Quest prop is going to hold up I’m on my original ultrex prop and it’s dug a lot of ditches. I probably ought to just go ahead and replace it or at least buy a replacement.

When my current Ultrex wears out I will probably grab the Quest to replace it. I like the looks of the Lowrance best but my boat is rigged out fir Humminbirdand MK so I am keeping it that way.
