If Dan Quinn takes the head coaching job in either Seattle or Washington, I’m giving Bill Belichick head coaching money to come in and be the DC in Dallas. It’s looking like Belichick will not get a head coaching job. Jerry Jones needs to keep him in the game.

Belichick would make a great DC, but no way he does that. He wants HC/GM/Owner responsibilities, and wants to answer to no one, that is why no team wants him. Only the falcons gave him a look, and they passed on him.

I said it in other threads, I didn’t think Belichick would be the hot item many thought he would be. I doubt he will get an NFL gig. He lived off Brady and New England front office. He surrounded himself with not the best coaching staff once he had keys to the car. A smart owner is going to see that. Half of getting a head coaching gig in the NFL is what support staff can they bring.

Belichick has Bill O’Brien for OC!

Thanks, Billy

He should retire from coaching and become a commentator.

I do not think he has the personality to become a commentator.
He has money to retire and is old enough to do so.

Football knowledge notwithstanding, his persona would make for a terrible commentator.

I also didn't think there would be a big demand for him....

- Cranky demeanor....

- Strong personality being a worry to both management and ownership

- 71 years old..... odds heavily favor he's not a viable coach for more than 5 years.

- Due to his age/coaching style he's not a good fit for the current NFL player. Time has most probably passed him by, similar to Tom Landry. (as a rule, not a big fan of these modern players.)

- "Coaching genius" label has taken a substantial hit due to Brady's success without him and his lack of success without Brady.

Etc..

.

Don't mess with the goat.
Landry's main failure was the lack of a good qb for just a couple years.

I don't believe he could have duplicated what Jimmy did but I do believe he would have been back to the SB.

Massive Landry fan and you're certainly correct about the Qb....

BUT, the Irvin/Miami types were NOT his cup of tea. He was a Staubach, Lilly, Howley, Bruenig, Reeves, etc type guy. Remember all the issues he had with Duane Thomas? ("plastic man").

Coach Landry's biggest problem IMOP was the "Flex" defense, his use of the shotgun with Staubach, etc were VERY innovative, but, the league caught up.... and he seemed to be resistant to change.

But, make NO mistake, I loved Tom Landry. Heck, my whole football youth was based off he, Tex, Brandt, etc.

He'd be better than Tony Romo.
