Anyone know any places where orangespotted sunfish can be caught?. I know they are one of the more uncommon sunfish species. I've always wanted to catch one. Beautiful colors on them. Here is a picture of one. https://images.app.goo.gl/3DuUUufCSv2spfte8

Comal River, New Braunfels is loaded with them.  Side Note: Very aggressive and great fighters for their size. Love catching them on ultralight tackle.

TPWD indicates they are found statewide, however other sources indicate they are found mainly from center to north Texas. They are a small species of sunfish reaching sexual maturity from 1 to 5 inches in length. They can be abundant in small ponds. If you want to catch one get a very small hook or fly.

Beautiful fish, but don't get very big. I have caught many in the Comal river as Chuck mentioned. If you know where the tube chute is...go just up river from there & you will find them in pretty good numbers....but I would wait until the water clears up. We have had a lot of rain here this week...

We catch them at choke canyon. Like mentioned above, not much size to them
