Glad to now be on the east side of town with all this flooding. Tawakoni, Ray Hubbard, and Fork are in good shape. Lived in Roanoke in the 90s and fished Grapevine, Lewisville, and Ray Roberts when it opened. I would like to fish Roberts again some day. Just not worth fighting the traffic from Rockwall.

Fished grapevine today and scouted mid lake to lower and it was a ghost town. Thought about going to the beach but it was getting hot. Bass bite rough unless you like flipping brush. Take care all

Forgot to add this yesterday. The solar panel street lights at all of the ramps are creating a bait/sandbass bonanza during the nights. You can have some real fun with a ultralight parked next to these lights. There is one at the mouth of Scotts, Dove ramp , and Meadomere. (I don't know if the light at Meadomere is too far back in the cove). But if you take the kayak out to Scotts, you can have some fun in the early mornings before sunrise. The scotts light is on the way out of the cove, and only ramp open on the lake. So try here first. I have not tried dove ramp, or the meadomere ramp early so that is something you will have to scout.

Well Thursday was a bust. I caught 1 sand bass and 8 drum. I searched east, west, north & south.
I also broke my live scope pole to top it off.

A big shout out to Prosise friend Mr. B today for performing "surgery" on the water. I had the famous treble hook stuck in my hand when I mishandled a bass. I wasn't sure what to do, or I was too afraid to handle it on my own. I saw a gentleman that I recognized from Prosise's post and asked his advice. He gave me some options and then he decided to grab his pliers and pull it out for me. It wasn't fun, but I'm glad Mr. B helped me.

Prosise, please tell him thank you for me again!

I certainly will, he's my fishing mentor and "Good People" in my book. He told me he removed a hook today, I have done it several times, and once you do it you learn how to keep chugging. If the SHTF, you have to know how to handle such an issue. Thanks for the update. Just make sure you're up to date on your tetanus shot.

Fished for the green fish from 4am to 11am, brutally tough bass bite for me. looking for a big one, so big bites are few and far between. Went scouting and I finally went to the beach to see if the Sandbass were up there, some seen but not enough to make the trip up to fish. Lake is broken right now, all the usual spots are too deep, and the areas close don't seem to be holding sandbass. Drum are in full force at any ramp you fish, caught about 30 in 15-20ft at all the ramps. Even in Scott's across from the ramp on the east bank closest to the marina there are schools of drum that look like Sandbass. Had fun catching them, and anything is better than nothing. If you want to put fish in the freezer, GV is prob a pass until we find the fish. Take care all.

Forgot to add, the light pole at the mouth of Scott's was loaded with sand bass before sunrise. After the sun came up I wasn't there to check on them.

I had the same results. Looked like a decent school of sandies and then proceeded to get 4 or 5 drum in a row. The only place I haven't check is up by the dam, but the day I went had half a dozen wake board boats so I wouldn't have a chance.

Pulling or pushing hooks thru a finger or thumb isn't as much fun as it looks. My main reason to cut off at least one of the hooks on said lures with treble hooks.

A word of advice (or caution). When pulling out the hook, don't forget to remove the back treble hook before pulling out the front treble hook. We forgot that piece, and I got "stuck" again when we pulled out the front hook. But again, I am thankful to Mr. B for doing the dirty work!

Fished from 9pm yesterday until 1030am today. The lake is broken during the daytime. At night the lights on the ramp at the mouth of Scott's, dove, and twin coves is full of(bait, drum, Sandbass, and catfish). But during the day the bait is out in 25-30ft. Lake is already getting hot. I didn't catch any bass. But the drum compensated and gave me some fun.

Lake is still broken.

Forgot to add something, I was practicing my casting off of Meadomere Park (main point) when a TFF'r stopped by and said hello. He was out piddling around on the lake like me. I really appreciate the kind words that you guys give me, and always welcome to meeting new contacts out on the water. He was looking for some catfish, and scouting. Sometimes I don't have much to add, but what little I can will hopefully help others. I really encourage others to add anything, and even a small bit of information is helpful for others. I am fishing now, and it's crazy that I am catching sandbass in the back of silver lake marina flipping in deep brush. Take care all, and hopefully I will cross paths with some info today. Moon is beautiful tonight .

The rest of the story. Lake is coming down and my smallmouth pattern isn't broken anymore. Caught some smallies, drum, and catfish in 20-25 ft of water on rock piles. There is just too much brush in the water to try and focus on largemouth. With the lake up this much, I would bet the lake doubles on size in square acres. There is so much flooded timber, and we are going to have a stellar shad spawn. I did catch Sandbass flipping brush this morning, and a few more during the morning fishing rock piles. But as for sandbass, I didn't focus on them. Bait is everywhere in 20-30ft of water during the daytime. It's not worth going to GV if you want to catch sandbass. But if you want to fish a new lake, and you have not seen it this high it's pretty amazing.

Take care all, done for the week. Going to hand out with my better half tomorrow and then knock out three days of work. Fish caught on a drop shot with a shad type soft plastic about 3 inches long. I was using livescope, and I would be spinning my wheels without it.
