Same, although I don't throw it very often... I need to throw it more, it's really a goto on shell beds down here most of the time. I'm just stubborn and keep throwing power/junk stuff lol.

7’11” Power Tackle rod. 17 or 20 lb floro to a 15lb big game leader. Tried braid main line and like others, broke too many leaders on hook sets. 1 oz egg sinker. The long rod helps cast it a mile. Heavy weight to keep it on the bottom as I work it fairly fast, covering lots of water. I’ve probably caught more fish on a c-rig than any other technique.

I would think a 7’3”-7’6” m/hvy would be good.

I used to hate the technique so I wouldn’t mess with it, seems I always have one on the deck now, it’s been my most productive bait this year- but that ain’t saying much either…😆

Quit trying to set the hook like you’re fishing the cedar at Ivie. Try a side sweep, you’ll be amazed

Yeah I know

Dobyns DX 745C but mainly because a friend gave it to me. If I was buying I'd probably get a DC 764C. Got my only DD on it this spring. Mainly use it fishing over rocky humps.

I like how the OP edited the original post and added that he’s tried just about every crig rod out there.

Dragging a crig isn’t open heart surgery, you don’t need to be a surgeon to do it…

The skill is in where and how you drag it, not what you drag it with. It looks like you have a whole pile of high quality rods that will work.

I am a tackle nut for sure. I don't golf or hunt so what I don't spend on those activities I spend on tackle and so I have way more tackle than I need.
The rods I listed work well with other techniques also, ( maybe you don't realize that) I just tested them all out with a Carolina rig because I had them. I like to choose what I like best by my own on the water experience. I also swap out reels on rods to see which combo i like best. I have Daiwa, Lews, and Shimano reels, a variety of each.......Simple as that.
If that bothers you ,,,,,keep it to yourself.

I think everyone is fully aware that you can use one rod for multiple techniques. That’s why I like a 784, it’s good with a fb jig, crig, and a flutter spoon. You could probably throw a light arig on it too if you wanted.

Hey exbassin is scout grout over at your place tonight? Or are you over at WAWI’s place? 🏳️‍🌈
