The wind has blown hard for so long the birds are beat down from the constant winds.. some will let you get much closer than usual… most on the lee side of mangroves.

Very rare sight... seeing flamingos at flamingo... have spent hundreds of days fishing the park, this was only the second time to ever see flamingos.. Have spoken to many park rangers that have never seen one.. over a quarter mile away with telephoto lens... couldnt get any closer as water was too shallow.

Cool pictures but I hate them ospreys from Florida, let me explain.

I was fishing in Orlando with a big shiner under a ballon and I guess a big bass pushed it up to the surface and an osprey swooped down and picked it off with it's talons. I had the reel in freespool and quickly figured out that the damn thing wasn't going to drop the shiner so I clicked it in gear. Drove that hook deep into it's talon so I figured it was best to just reel it in and try to free it instead of cutting the line and hoping for the best. That damn thing kicked my a-- before I could get it free!!!! Their beaks and talons are extremely sharp!

But they do put up a pretty good fight.

Slow day on Texoma once fishing live bait. The guy I was fishing with was a little slow. I told him to take his weight off and throw his bait out there. Seagull grabbed it and he hooked it. He reeled it in and unhooked it. When the seagull flew off it left something behind on his leg. He said if he had seen that before he let the seagull go he would have rung it's neck.

This guy is rarely out in the daytime. Young great horned owl drinking from my pool. I was watching a young fox in my backyard ( I videod it but the file is too large to download here) and the fox was nosing around, then heard something, looked over towards my pool and high tailed it. I panned over and saw our owl getting a drink. We'll sometimes get 3 or 4 on our roof at night yapping. Cool birds.

This guy would be cool to have around... I'd thought of building a few owl boxes but have never gotten around to it... Dan
