I alternate each trip. I will swimbait all day on one trip and then go to the extreme and BFS the next trip. I catch more than enough BFS fish to tide me over for those long swimbait days.

I bought a GLoomis Conquest 905 and an Antares DC MD along with a few hundred dollars worth of swimbaits a few months ago. Haven’t tossed one yet.

I use mono; fresh and salt. Yes, throw that swim bait. A friend of mine introduced me to using a swim bait. and always have one on the ready.

A few months ago, I caught my PB flounder a weightless swim bait.

I like a curado 300e if you can find one, with 30ibs CXX.

I’ve seen 50 and 65 braid break throwing swimbaits, unless you step up to 80, like the guys throwing the 12-20oz Muskie baits.

Remember this nice gentleman letting me backseat at Falcon. He was throwing a 4" fluke, reported no fish for three days. I thought to myself, THIS IS TEXAS, WHY THROW A 4" FLUKE? To each there own. Within 5 minutes of our day, starting on the dam, I'd landed one lunker and then lost my $50, 7" wooden lure (now $200, as discontinued) to a monster. It ate it on it's second attempt to destroy it on he surface. It made a run down into the trees 10' below and tied me up- bummer.

Nice! It seemed like as the wood ones were being phased out people were saying the wood ones were much better than the plastic ones, does anyone know about that?

Yes, the wood ones were finely custom tuned….the much cheaper mass produced ABS ones might find that magic one out of every ten that come off the assembly line….but will work just fine.

The wood ones move a ton of water, fish feel it. If I didn't have a wood one, I might throw the plastic, although I'm pretty sure it'd catch less fish.

But I'd also probably just throw a Super Spook, my go to top 50% of the time anyways.
