Had real ones when I was growing up but we only use artificial now. No mess to deal with and doesn't lose the needles. Storage is the only real down side.

We've done both but fake for the past 10 years. Just bought a new one last year after Christmas for 70% off. Win!

I am allergic to Pine trees so it's an artificial tree for me. Plus the artificial is easier to maintain. No adding water or vacuuming up fallen pine needles.

We did the real tree for 20+ years, got a prelit artificial 3 years ago and it’s definitely easier. Only drawback is storing it, it doesn’t go back into the box like it was ever in there to begin with Same. Hated to go that route but too much trouble to stay with real.

Artificial
We have a Balsam tree that is 9' tall loaded with LED's. We get many compliments on how real it looks.

I like our fake tree. We've never had a real one and the present one is 8-9 years old. The first one we bought lasted 15 years but wasn't pre-lit.
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

Real trees are fire hazards only when not properly cared for. Cut 2" off the bottom and never let it run dry. I cut the trunk and put it on the front porch in a bucket of water for several days. Don't put them directly under a HVAC register. Take it down in a few days after Xmas. When the kids were here I would get a 7 to 8' but I just get a 5' to 6' one.

Artificial…less of a fire hazard. And also what Jesus had.

For thirty years we always had a large, real Christmas tree. Real is better and it fills the house with a fragrance that says "Christmas is here".
Alas, we are old and weary and a real tree is more work so we now use one from Balsam Hill, that looks great, is not real - but much easier on old folks.
As we age there are certain concessions that one makes.

Pre-lit and fake but we aren't putting it up this year since we are going on a Christmas cruise.

My Grandma LaMea used to have a Christmas for all seasons. Similar to that fancy one above. Silver for Christmas, gold for New Year, Green for St. Patrick's Day, etc.

Fake.... all 4 of them. (save me)

Fake.... all 4 of them. (save me) Now we are talking. Ha. Nice. Two fake and one real. So far. 🎄 🌲 🎄
