So at what age are you to dumb to know how to use FFS?

We caught fish before with the Lowrance Green box and then we got the Hummingbird Super Sixty. My gosh we thought we would clean out the lakes. Roland Martin, Rick Clunn, Bill Dance, the Murray boys and Hank Parker just to name a few always caught fish in the BASS tourneys. My point is FFS is just a improved tool. You still have to get them to bite to catch them.

If the olds bale on the activity it'll become the X Games only lower in the pecking order of activities people will view... Dan

I disagree- the young kids are more inclined to blow their small wad chasing a dream- even if they finance it. The older more mature guys usually won’t do that.

Evidently my age cause I have figured out the “fish just jump in the boat” feature yet. If Randy B could help me navigate the settings I’d be much obliged.

I think you and I are about the same age (46), so I’d go with anything over 40.

But once the finance companies and banks stop loaning money they're dead in the water... For many years to come... Guys in their 40's, 50's and 60's have way more disposable income... It's been that way since the caveman... Dan

Your not wrong, some of this youth movement making it to BPT and Elites don't know how to talk to the camera much less talk. There is some validity to MLF wanting marketable brands in their top circuit, not just guys that can catch them, and FFS is changing the skill set of catching them.

I would retire too cuz it’s just not as invigorating to fish 250 days a year like it used to be. Life and time changes your outlook on things. Having said that I’ll fish my butt iff in the tourneys I do fish and will love it cuz I got a job to pay the bills Mon-Fri

Petro - You hit the nail on the head and not necessarily regarding the pro anglers but all anglers. I am now 70 and love tournament fishing as much as I always did even for a weekend angler. But many factors go into not really being as competitive as in years past. Now days I fish the way I want to instead of how I need to and I am certainly less competitive but for I think a lot of guys you get to a place where the love of the sport and just being grateful for the ability to keep fishing still drives you. So for me it doesn't bother me to keep after it even if just having the great experience and memories it provides keeps me going and don't plan on quitting anytime soon.

Great response! Traditionally, the club members were children finally raised and young ones financed by their parents... 2cents

Getting old is not for P’s.

But, if these kids are only making cast when they actually see a fish, they will be holding up longer. Think of how many times we’ve chunked a lure and there were zero fish in the proximity.

That’s part of the experience you just never know

I have been at work the past couple of days. My boat is in my garage. Apparently my Livescope is so powerful and easy to use that fish are ringing the doorbell and asking my wife to put them in the livewell. They are just giving up.

I agree. A lot of young folks will pawn their grammaw for a “fix” to participate in the Elites/BPT. It’s sold to young minds as a pro sport. A slick dream, but the biz model sold is just that…….a dream. I’ve said for a long time, the upper tier of Bass fishing for money is about a 100 man game including both leagues out there: BASS/BPT. If a guy is not in that “group of 100” he’s a donator, plain and simple. Nothing more nothing less. “But it’s a dream”. Outside the best 100 whether that means; talent or best sponsored, there’s not enough $ to support beyond that.
“But it’s a dream” Yes it is, and an expensive hobby too all at the same time.
