Been noticing that many of the pros are posting finders fees, big discounts, etc and still have not been able to sell their 1yr old boats. Not something I have paid attention to in the past, but many seem to be having a hard time selling their boats. Has the bass boat market finally slowed down? I have not paid attention to new inventory on dealer lots. Just curious. I was kicking around maybe selling my rig and getting a new one next year.

With the interest rates the way they are for boats, it's really slowed it down. No way I'm paying 15% interest on a boat loan. Heck, I struggled with the 7% I got at first then refi to 5%.

If you have the means, it's your money.

It's slowed a lot, although I'm sure some dealers are selling well. I think over the next few years the market will be flooded pretty badly, thereby putting downward pressure on prices.

Will the manufacturers get the memo that these prices are unsustainable?

It is whether they admit it or not.

Hopefully the time for a cash buyer to get a better deal is near.

He's talking about the market not bidenomics... anyone who thinks that's working needs to be hit in the head with a ball peen hammer.

Manufacturers are pricing new boats thru the roof. At the same time interest rates are as high as I’ve seen. That’s why not much is moving. There are 100’s of 2023 boats still sitting at dealers not moving. And some have been there for months. Even a year or more.
Bad news is, I don’t see it changing anytime soon.

The interest rate is about where it used to be for recreational vehicles, the problem is how expensive boats are and this economy, I think many folks got in over their heads during the covid bs, if they have to get out from under big boat loans it will likely be ugly. I think the boat manufacturers are going to take a big hit along with engine and electronic manufacturers.

everyone had a lot of free time to fish and recreate so they spent money on stuff to play with. in this economy they now can't afford to take the time to play much any more and those loans on toys are gonna be the first they get rid of. if you are not in a hurry I would wait till july/aug. and see if the repos have started coming up.
talk to your buddy the banker and ask for notice if any boats of xyz come up, cash in hand talks with banks, no auction fees.

no way I can even get close to a repo at current prices. just glad mine is all paid for.

It doesn’t seem to make a difference- at the end of the day every seller gets paid in cash.

I wouldn't hold my breath for repos. Everybody has their jobs and there are more to be had. It's just matter of nobody wants to pay the price. Only people who may lose jobs are those that work at boat manufacturers
