It is with the heaviest of shocked hearts that I say, you will be missed amigo šš Lane Palmer had been a large part of my family and helping us make memories for a lifetime. We were just talking about trying to get a trip booked in a few weeks so I could take my mom fishing for her birthday (something Lane had done for us for years). My entire family has been out fishing with Lane at some point over the years, and we came to call him part of the family. Lane was my very first pro staff member. He was exactly what every company should be looking for in an ambassador for their company, for the industry, and honestlyā¦.life in general. Lane even took a four hour trip out of his way to attend my sonās funeral. You see, Lane was on his way to the Houston area to help feed and evacuate the people whose lives were turned upside by Hurricane Harveyā¦.but he wanted to be their for our family as well. That was Lane! I shared this with a friend of mine earlier today, and I hope it might help bring comfort to others. I know that Laneās family will need prayers for peace, comfort, and understanding (where no understanding seems plausible). This is what I shared and truly believe : Appreciate it! This topic of gone too soon has always hit me differently than most after my sonās passing. What Iāve come to realize and have had to lean on my faith about thisā¦..the Lord will take some people too young to spare them from the sufferings of this world to come. Itās a tough pill to swallow, but I know how devastating Covid lockdowns would have been for my son. Mentally, he would have suffered. The way the world is going right now, I just have to believe Lane was spared from whatās coming. Not to get preachy, but thatās just what I have to believe. Lane had a heart of absolute gold and I believe heās in a much better place than we are having to endure today. I just ask everyone who has read this far to do me a huge favor. PLEASE forgive those who you need to forgive todayā¦.you may never get the chance again. Doesnāt matter who is right or wrong. Understand that forgiveness has everything to do with you and very little to do with those that you forgive. I had to dig deep to do the forgiving myself these last few months, but it was weighing heavily on my heart and I have felt so much better getting that spirit of unforgiveness out of me. I had to forgive everyone (including Steve). Donāt forgetā¦forgive!! Some of yāall were once great friends and let an argument, a āhe said/she saidā, a misunderstanding, etcā¦drive a wedge in between you. You have to ask yourselfā¦. If God can forgive me for everything Iāve done, how can I spend all this time not forgiving others? If we are going to talk the talk, we need to be prepared to walk the walk. Itās days like today that should drive home the point that life is too short to let pettiness and unforgiveness steal our joy! Who was right or wrong really doesnāt matter when weāre gone. Rest in peace brother! You were loved and will be missed by many. You always had time to truly invest in others and were always willing to share. This one truly hurts. Dani, you need to know that the fishing community is here for anything you need. Lane touched hundreds if not thousands of lives and we know he would have given anything to anyone in their time of need. I think I can speak for most of usā¦.anything you need, please just ask! ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2023/10/full-10937-201875-603.jpeg)

Excellent words Chris and what Laner would have said. He was that guy. Always willing to help anyone, but never wanting credit for what he did. He just did what was right. Never any negative words from Lane, especially about someone else. I've had the pleasure to work and fish with Lane and enjoyed every minute of it. A friend to everyone.
His passing leaves a hurt in the heart, but I take comfort knowing Lane is in a so much better peaceful place.

There is a condition with the heart that many people have no idea they have it until a doctor diagnoses it. It's like walking around with a ticking time bomb. What makes this condition even more frustrating for family members and friends is the condition only presents itself when the heart is beating. An autopsy sometimes will not reveal this condition if it was what Lane had. In a nutshell this condition requires the individual to get a Pacemaker. I have a close friend that has it currently. He luckily had a doctor spot it. My wife is a paramedic and has been over 20 years and has extensive experience with this issue. There are many things it could have been and this is one that immediately popped into my head when I heard the news. Ever hear of the Dallas Rock Band Drowning Pool? Their lead singer was Dave Williams from Princeton, Texas. He passed away from this very heart condition. He was born in 1972 and passed away in 2002. He was 30 years old and laid to rest in Allen, Texas. A big part of me believes Lane may have had this heart condition and had no idea he had it. No matter the cause this is a very sad and sobering reminder that tomorrow is promised to no one. Lane will be missed.
