Alarm comes when you get up and start running
What could be the problem?

Impeller was changed in May . Been working fine till yesterday at Texoma. Might have got sand in it unloading .
Went home and washed it out with the water hose attachment.

Not on a SHO, but I was at the lake and all of a sudden I noticed a drop in water pressure. It still had the water peeing out at idle but not on plane. I changed the impeller and case and still had the same problem(impeller was still good also). I pulled the thermostat cover and one of them was stuck open. Changed them both out, problem solved. It is an easy check out, you may need to replace the gasket or o-ring. Great reply here. No alarm? No temp gauge? Try on hose and take note of the water temp coming out of the telltale at low idle. Let it run for a bit and check a few times,

Do Yamahas have a water strainer like Mercs?, that can cause water circulation issue too.

use the backflushing hose on the side of the motor with a water hose Tried that , still not peeing at mid range . Now flat footed it pees normal . At idle and wide open it works fine . Only at mid range does it not pump water . The alarm will come on pretty quickly .

What does your water pressure gauge show? It quit working a long time ago You might want to fix this problem while you are at it. When I bought my used Mako, the pressure gauge did not work. The tubing going from the motor to the pressure gauge was clogged. Easy fix. I replaced the tubing and now it works like a champ. Not having a pressure gauge is like not having a temperature gauge on your vehicle. You won't know if there is a problem until it is to late.
