Seems that the "so called conservatives" are liberal after all and looking for a handout. No, we want to be left alone and to leave other people alone. But since my wages were garnished to support the social security ponzi scheme I'm taking as much back as possible the moment I can. It's a withdrawal of my confiscated wages.
Stress less, relax more. Go fishing.

not a handout when you have paid in for 40 years 47 for me. Forced participation by both me and my employers, 12.4% of every paycheck I ever got. Yeah, that sounds like a giveaway program to me.

Why do some people have trouble understanding that? Speaking for myself... I've been paying in since I was 16 (minus 4 years of college) and now I'm 40. I haven't paid in as long as others but if anyone advocates that they should get paid theirs but me not get paid mine, I am gonna push back on that. Is that fair?

Depending on a persons age and size of cash assets accumulated a 5.1% return can maintain a very comfortable lifestyle while preserving their principal.
With inflation, your principal loses value. The purchasing power of your principle is certainly reduced but I fail to see how the value of your principle is affected. [/quote] With inflation, the price of goods and services increase. You could put $100,000 in cash under your bed, leave it there for 10 years, when you take it out 10 years from now, that $100,000 has lost value, it might be worth $70,000 in today's dollars.

Why do some people have trouble understanding that? A head scratcher for sure, people try to use it as an argument whenever the govt. proposes some handout program like bailing out tuition deadbeats. They completely miss the point that your average dead beat has paid little to no tax in their life, but feel entitled to your money because they made the choice to take out a college loan. SS has been funded through the payroll tax with a matching contribution from employers and many of us "contributed" to SS for close to 50 years before receiving our SS checks. And if you die before you can collect, tough luck.

If you put in you get it back...unless we're talking about a government program then it's "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs"

Liberals are wanting interest free money. They think they are entitled to it. And BTW, most of you that live long enough will get more money back from SS in 2-3 years than you put in.

Here’s something that will blow your mind and is 100% a fact…..where ever you are, what ever place you are currently standing/sitting/laying, there is no one there dumber. At a store, social event, just out in public, no one there can beat you at being dumb. So, you have that going for you.

I paid in for 56 years and started drawing at 70. If I live thru next March, I will have gotten back all that was paid in by me and my employers. It takes a little over six years to get back what you put in. A
