****** I had a long angry section to this post. Out of respect for the peace we've recently managed to create between Carp Anglers and Bow hunters I am refraining. I will however ask that you guys try to respect us the same way we try to respect you. I don't cast toward you with a 5 oz distance lead, so don't point ANY of your hunting tools at me, bow OR lights. Fish and let fish I say*******

In all seriousness that borders on gross negilgence. NO ONE needs to point a bow in the immediate vicinity of anglers period. Thats a dangerous game to play and you guys have every right to get tofish in peace and not have some idiots come in on you like that. Hopefully you got pictures or a TX # so these clowns get whats coming to them. That is just wrong.

Unfortunately with a spotlight that looked a lot like the sun, and them intentionally shining it right at us, photos and TX numbers are impossible. I've seen the damage that one of my bullet shaped 5 oz leads can do to a stump. and I've seen the damage an arrow does to a large fish. This is just ASKING for an altercation. I AM NOT trying to threaten anyone. But when you get that close to another boat or a bank angler its just dangerous. If you can see another anglers face and gear enough to identify them, and you have a weapon in your hand. YOU'RE TOO DAMN CLOSE!!!!

I personally (note that said personally, not friend of a friend) had guys in a light covered boat come in and snag my lines on Lake Houston.

They proceeded to yell profanities at me for fishing for carp (as in 'you carp loving f***ers', so it was not a mis-understanding) as they did so.

Obviously there are bad folks in all areas (note the big pile of cleaned fish on the boatramp in another thread) and I just chalked it up to that.

The folks here on the TFF are pretty good folks though, its just sad to see people so rude.

Maybe the carp fishers can wipe out the bowhunters with thier heavy wieghts and the bow fishers can wipe out the carpers and then we wouldn't have to put up with this back and forth whining every time we open this forum.

Read the thread.

the OP was a resident on a lake. I specifically stated the guys here are all good, *and* there are bad folks across the board.

And I was just making a point that it was a dangerous situation where either side could be hurt. You seem to be the only one trying to turn this into use against them. Tony Reeves, Mark Perry Myself and others have had our issues in the past. But we've all been civil and productive on this thread and neither group started the thread. Please go troll elsewhere.

I agree its been very civil. No matter the species being fished for it plain sucks to get your lines ran over and again its unsafe to point much less shoot a bow in the directions of others. There's too much water out there to pull something that stupid. Its all about respect for one another.

As an occasional bow fisherman, hearing that people will purposefully snag bank fishermen's lines and shoot at their fish is kind of embarassing.
It's always sad when one bad apple gives a poor impression of a whole group of people.
I personally enjoy catching carp on rod and reel and bowfishing for them equally.
Its all for sport, people should grow up and start enjoying the resources that we in Texas are blessed with.

I'd think 100 yards would be ample and not asking to much.

Gotta be careful. Some old boys don't take too kind to having people point weapons in their direction, and even less kind at people shooting at their fish.

I was fishing one night on Calaveras and this guy was bowfishing on the opposite side of the cove. He lit it up pretty good, and when he made his way around, he gave me wide berth. Back at the ramp we talked about bowfishing. We were both fishermen, his boat was louder and brighter than mine, but we respected each other.

Carpers - next time take a photo and date it so we can see the consistency. I gotta see this. You guys make it seem like its an on going thing. I think its on the contrary. You even have the mods backing u up now.

I see comments from 3 guys who catch carp amongst their other angling escapades and yet they are the ones who need the pacifier?

Thats what I called reasoned debate, seems to me like you'd be one of those water users who's only concern is for themselves and nobody else who's using the water. Show some tolerance and you might get your eyes opened to a new species, tactic or lunker lake, keep the blindfold on and you're going to miss out on the company of fair minded anglers.

Ongoing?

One incident for me.

I'd hardly call that ongoing. I'm quite sure I was civil, and didn't mention anyone whining or any other name calling.

Way to turn the thread in a bad direction.

Oh well.

Interesting topic. I can see both sides. But, there still should be some Common Courtesies.
