What Freestone County commissioners want is entirely irrelevant. The State of Texas does not need their permission or approval to exercise its eminent domain authority. The three person panel will be appointed, an appraised value will be set, and TP&WD will take possession of the land whether Todd agrees with the price and takes the money or decides to fight it in court. The rest is all sound and fury signifying nothing.

Did the couple dozen TI Shanghai investors show up to give their input to TPWD on grass carp stockings to support the planned buffet restaurant?

The "shady character" to his right was the TPWD executive director.....lol. If you think Todd is shady you might try looking at some of his projects. He's very well known in Dallas for some of his projects including the largest renovation in the state and one of the larger ones in US. The National in Dallas had been closed for nearly a decade when Todd bought it to build new office space. Another was the old Dallas post office turned into condos. Sure he's in it to make a profit but he's helping revitalize Dallas in doing it.

Can you give us a really really big picture of the Todd building that Vistra is in?

Mr. Todd is in front of Mr. Yoskowitz. Can you give us a really really big picture of the Todd building that Vistra is in? Mr Todd is facing the camera with his head turned towards the right. Yoskowitz is standing to Todd's right. To Razor, you are incorrect. IF they were irrelevant, why would they send three of their top officers to a public meeting of the Freestone County commissioners? Also Judge Judy Grant is both a Freestone County Commissioner and the Freestone County Judge. She is in favor of the state buying the lake but not in favor of them using eminent domain. I read where the judge comes from that county and whoever is picked makes legal decisions on the case so I would not say that the Freestone County Commissioners is irrelevant. One of them very well may oversee the whole process.

Any appraisals and there will be several, will be evidence unless they adopt it.

They also are supposed to assess damages. That should include what Todd has spent since he purchased it, IMO. Any appraisals and there will be several, will be evidence unless they adopt it.

No sure what you think is wrong, but TP&WD can only take possession after they put up cash equal to the price set by the three-person panel. You can call it market value or appraisal, does not matter at that point.

And how many Chinese yuan are invested in those projects? They invest US dollars they got from people who shop at Walmart.

No sure what you think is wrong, but TP&WD can only take possession after they put up cash equal to the price set by the three-person panel. You can call it market value or appraisal, does not matter at that point. We are arguing minutia knowing what the other is saying but adding to it. The procedure uses terms like appraisals and market values for specific things. The final number should include more than any appraisal that had been done if it takes into consideration what the procedure calls for. Market value being what the property is worth plus any damages that the owner might have incurred by the state taking it. Damages, as they use it seems to be in him being able to recoup costs he has spent associated with the property that are not part of the value of the property.
