Here is the scenario - you're at your house and you have one hour to split. You're leaving and need to spend a year hiding out in the woods. You don't have massive amounts of people looking for you or anything - I'm not talking escape and evade stuff - just a year in a part of the woods in our general area that's not your land and you aren't intimately familiar with it. You've only got an hour to put that together.

Could you pull that off successfully? I think I probably could, but I can think of a few issues that might give me some problems, but I think I could pull that off.

I know it's likely a pretty useless mental exercise, but playing out that hypothetical hour of prep for a whole year spent in the elements was kind of interesting. Like I said, I think I could make that work out.

Maybe I'm underestimating how long a year really is and how quick an hour passes, though.

Man it takes me about 2 days to get everything together for a week long fishing trip down to the coast. Not sure what I would come up with in just an hour.

A bugout plan is the term.

and no I really don't have one. I have a "dig in" plan but not a bugout plan or location

I'm going down with the house, I would rather stand and fight to the death then turn and run to live.

I'd like to think I could, but reality is you'd probably forget something that is life saving. You'd think short term about clothing, but realize the winter can be brutal.

Does there happen to be someone living in a house close to these woods? Would it go against the “hypothetical “ to remove them from the house and just live there? Oskar is high maintenance and needs to be fed on time and live indoors.

that's the funny part. there are no "woods" to go to . it's all private or owned by the government and people aren't going to let you just hang out there.

I would just grab some clothes, maybe a couple of weapons with ammunition, couple hundred thousand in cash and go, I would sneak into town and buy stuff that I needed. Funny, I watched some weird movie last nite where a father and daughter lived out in the woods, they would go into town for supplies.

I would need longer than that just to load all my ammo in the truck. I'm not going anywhere!

Here is a thought if it gets that bad and you have five years of food and water and clothes

What happens after 5 years? At some point Jesus has to be trusted
