Thing is, if you are good at the draft which the Cowboys have shown they are the best in the league, you can build a bad asss defense. But drafting for a top 5 QB is risky business, a lot of luck involved, not a very good strategy (or fun) to build a team to get to the SB by sucking every year and wasting top draft picks on QBs that do not work out.

Drafting/developing average QBs (top 10, top 15…) and surrounding that QB with a great team is a much better (and a more fun) way to go. JMO.

I will say Brady did it with a lot less team around him, and he did it when it counts in the playoffs. But I will also say Brady had much better leadership (coach/GM) than Dak has had, leadership brings focus which is most important in the playoffs, and Jerry sucks here, he is just a distraction. Sorry Kamper!! soap

He's not horrible, but he's def middle of the pack. You can win with middle of the pack, but not in recent history...i.e. Mahomes, Rogers, obviously Brady. But the Giants won with Eli...twice. He was middle of the road in my opinion. We started talking about QB's and the Chargers Herbert. I told my buddies I'd trade Dak AND Micah for Herbert. The Chargers obviously wouldn't trade Herbert for Dak, and we couldn't trade Micah for Herbert and still have Dak here. We can win without Micah. I don't think we can win with Dak. Thoughts??

Eli and Trent Dilfer didn't turn the ball over. Dak does. You can't win against the best NFL teams when you're turning the ball over. In 8 total playoff games in 2007 and 2011 when Eli won, he had 2 INTs (one in each playoff run). Dak threw 3 balls right to 49ers defenders in one game. And that's all it takes - one horrible game and you're done. Dak has them all the time. In 6 playoff games in his career, he has 5 INTs. Defense can only overcome so much.

I don't think it would be as easy to win without Micah as you think. To me this team is built around defense and the defense is built around him. Cutting Dak is addition by subtraction. Let Lance and Rush battle it out. I don't care...I just don't want to watch another second of Dak.

Eli's teams won with defense and most notably pass rush. Especially that 2007 team. You are right about the playoffs but in the regular season Elisha had just as many turnovers as TD's. Mediocre stats at best but will be in the HOF because he played in NY.

Don't get me wrong boys. I was born in South Oak Cliff and lived in Dallas all of my life until 7 years ago. I bleed blue and silver, but I just don't think Dak can get us there. Patriot07, you and I are on the same page. I just always see Dak making the big throw...to the other team.
Raybob...you left out one stat on the pics of Brady, Brees, and Rothlesberger....they all won the big one. And therein lies the difference!!

yep but Eli knew how to do one thing well, that most other quarterback couldn't. He knew how to beat Brady in the SB twice. The scramble out of the patriots defense arms and throws a pass to the tight end ended a perfect season. The one thing eli did well was not get shook up over a bad play or game and just keeps coming. He is absolutely a middle of the pack but he knew how to win in big games.
