My golf buddies and I finished our round today and grabbed some lunch and got around to talking NFL. We bantered a bit about who we thought has a decent chance at making the Super bowl this year. The Cowboys are pretty stacked this year. Except in the main spot...DAK. He's ok and better than 99.0% of all humans, except those that play NFL QB. He's not horrible, but he's def middle of the pack. You can win with middle of the pack, but not in recent history...i.e. Mahomes, Rogers, obviously Brady. But the Giants won with Eli...twice. He was middle of the road in my opinion. We started talking about QB's and the Chargers Herbert. I told my buddies I'd trade Dak AND Micah for Herbert. The Chargers obviously wouldn't trade Herbert for Dak, and we couldn't trade Micah for Herbert and still have Dak here. We can win without Micah. I don't think we can win with Dak. Thoughts??

M But the Giants won with Eli...twice. Matthew Stafford, Nick Foles, Russell Wilson, Joe Flacco, Trent Dilfer...Of course you can win with Dak, but he needs more help than a top 5 QB.

30 for 30 "bullies of Baltimore" story of 2000 ravens. Top 5 defense ever looks at their run to the superbowl where if not for kickoff td return they shut giants out in superbowl, also had 4 shut outs that year. Worth watching. It was on espn few weeks ago.

Dilfer……eternal hope for any team with a sub-par NFL QB.

You would trade probably the best defensive player in the NFL for a QB that has done nothing in the NFL so far ? The Cowboys can win with Dak and a great defense, some of you are selling Dak a little short, he is not chopped liver. Actually liver and onions is pretty dam good if made properly. Barring significant injuries the Cowboys are going to be really good this year.

I know the NFL is a QB league but I really like the idea of having a game wrecker on the defense.

NFL analyst Eric Edholm predicts Cowboys win the superbowl: “this Cowboys' defense could evoke memories of the 'Doomsday' units of yore -- with just enough juice on offense for Dallas to win the franchise's first ring in nearly 30 years”

I think Dak Prescott has the skills to win a superbowl, and I also think Tony Romo had the skills to win a superbowl. But it takes the other 52 players on the roster to play great football when their number is called, and the coaching staff to coach great football, and that has to happen all season long. Cowboys teams have not made that happen for a long time. Come on team win one again...
