Thanks Osbornfishing!

Been working on some size 24 parachute BWO and Chrominids. Threw them in a puck to see if I could play them off as flyshop flies. LOL Have some work to do in the seriously small dept as I get ready to hit the San Juan in January. Need to tie up some 28 -30 midges and Rs2's. Will post them up when I get them done if I'm not to crosseyed to type. [Linked Image]

Great work. I cannot tie anything smaller than about a 16. Too clumsy, and nearsighted.

Ever thought about mashing down your barbs? For the smaller hook sizes I sure think that helps the hookup ratio.

Thanks! Yes on smashing barbs. Some of the earlier flys in this thread have barbs, which I always crimp when fishing anyways. Since, I have started crimping the barbs on the vise which has been way easier than doing it on the water.
Sometimes on the very small hooks it's hard to get my forceps in there to crimp them. Luckily the 28 and 30 gamakatsu hooks I am tying micro midges on are barbless, wayyyy easier.

Came up with this in an effort to match the small midges hatching on the Juan recently.
Size 30 Para midge.

Took a little break from tying the small stuff. I followed the "Slammin Fly" pattern tutorial from flyfishfood. I'm envisioning big browns smacking this at the surface deep in the Black Canyon this summer. Thanks for looking.

You certainly have a gift. The pix you post of the flies you’ve tied look like they should be in a catalog or a magazine.

Split cane, that is a very nice compliment. Thank you. I still have a lot to learn, but I am enjoying every minute of it. I just try to tie a little every day, and chalk most of it up to un diagnosed ADHD hyperfocus. loco_2
