The plug socket for my Ulterra 36V trolling motor keeps getting lose and plug gets hot as a result. What king of plugs are y’all using? I’m using the standard 3 pole plug but only using two wires. Is the Minn Kota plug for $135 worth the $ or is there something as good or better for less $?

The one you have on the picture looks good. My GW Motorguide is over 21 yrs old, and I've never had problems with my Ranger Plug. It's bulky but this Heavy Duty plug has done me right. Also, I always keep it plugged in.

direct wire it unless you remove it often. you can use a quick connect if you need to, I use this type and solder the ends after crimping. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074J2XTB5/?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B074J2XTB5&ref_=sbv_store_search&pd_rd_w=n0Q5K&content-id=amzn1.sym.ffd1659e-da72-4e4c-88cd-2e6703ef80a3%3Aamzn1.sym.ffd1659e-da72-4e4c-88cd-2e6703ef80a3&pf_rd_p=ffd1659e-da72-4e4c-88cd-2e6703ef80a3&pf_rd_r=R60CWP3B5NNYTAWS7KF4&pd_rd_wg=uV6dY&pd_rd_r=68dc8f86-dccc-4c97-9b62-da3d006685bd&pd_rd_plhdr=t&th=1

Seen it being used (rigged) on quite a few newer model boats.

Learnin - I have the exact same plug(s) pictured. For me, it is absolutely worth it. I got so fed up with the previous plug coming loose and sometime out of the plate so I bit the bullet. I really like it. I had to modify the size hole (larger) but that is ok with me for peace of mind to get rid of the aggravation. I don't have an off/on switch for the TM so I am always (un)plugging causing the wear and tear. I have always been told to not recharge TM batteries without the plug out if there is no on/off.

I appreciate all of the comments. I ended up going with the Minn Kota plug and am very pleased with it. It solved my issues. Worth the money IMO, $135 plug for a $3,500 trolling motor isn’t out of line.

Hard wire it! My Skeeter also has a TM breaker that I throw when in storage.

I installed a circuit breaker exactly like the one you posted here Hop.

When I go to lith batteries, I plan to permanently rig it - then I will be able to. TM batteries are 5yrs old. I am expecting this to be sooner, not later. I've never have had TM batteries last this long. Batteries are nothing special - purchased at Walmart.
