Can y’all guide me to 2-3 top brands of braids? Reasonable price unless it’s worth the premium
Unsure what I’m using for bait, o was told 20 lb braid

Thanks

Suffix 832 and PowerPro are probably the 2 most popular.

For me on a Spinning Reel Berkley Crysta Firlinel or X9 works best. For a baitcaster reel Suffix 832 works best. Just what works for me.

Suffix 832 is tough to beat on every reel.

I’ve had really good luck with Power Pro. But if you want something decent, at a lower price, check out the Berkley Big Game braid at Walmart. Can’t beat the price and it’s pretty good.

I like Daiwa Samurai or Sunline XPlasma, depending on use. Also consider 4 vs 8 strand - generally speaking, 4 strand is better around rocks or vegetation, while 8-strand better around wood or for finesse/spinning applications. But if you are just trying out braid you really can't go wrong with any of the popular priced brands mentioned already like Suffix or BigGame or BPS, PP, etc.

Power Pro Super 8 Slick V2. I prefer 8 strand braid on any and all combinations. It comes through the eyelets much smoother, and is much quieter when reeling.

Been using 832 for years but been meaning to try 131. One of these days I’ll pick up a spool.

Is the 131 more supple, cast further?

Costs more money. Has to be better. Read the advertising. Watch the pros on You Tube.

I'm a braid/leader believer. Every rod, every reel, every technique. Tried all the big names. Not the overpriced [censored] that they want us to buy. but PP, 832, X5, X9, Spiderwire, and others. I started with Lynch Line a long time ago.

I buy what's on sale. If you stay away from the bargain basement junk, it's pretty much the same regardless of what the guys that get it free and get paid to tell you, say.

Right now, I'm buying Yo-Zuri. I like the yellow color. I'm 77 and have trouble seeing some of the others. I did see a bright green 832 at BPS last week that looked good. Problem is, I spool up maybe once a year so don't have much opportunity to experiment.

Regarding colors, does Hi Vis Yellow or Neon Green turn fish away?

I am looking for line for Surf fishing so, I was considering something I could see better with my casts. Would neon green or high vis yellow turn the fish away from my lures and bait?

Power pro or the Yo zuri are my go to. The big game stuff is good for the price as well. I like hi vis if I am using a leader but not if I'm tying directly to the lure. The cheaper braids like I and others have mentioned tend to bleed or lose color a bit over time so if I'm tying directly to the lure I will often color the last couple of feet of line with a black marker. I got to marshall at a BASS event for Casey Ashley and watched him do it. We talked a bit about it and he suggested it made a difference in how many bites he got flipping when he colored the line so I've been doing it since and I think it does make a difference once the line get's a bit faded and washed out looking.
