There are a lot of replies from purple who need to go back to school, and this time read.
If you are a concerned with liberty, freedom and the pursuit of happiness, it’s Reagan and Trump, with Nixon a close third. If you’re looking for handouts pick anyone going back to the 30’s.

Talk about the Great Depression. Where did it go? Those same poor people are poor today. It didn’t disappear, matter of fact it is only getting worse. Once the gold pieces were confiscated it only got to the point we see currently. I don’t run around with hair on fire even though it seems stalin is currently in charge of our government.
Fdr created this state and therefore I will always consider him the worst/ dang this current joke is making a hard charge at him though.I’ll admit to not surviving the Great Depression but I know/knew people that did. They simply said they couldn’t tell a difference. Raised their livestock for meat, grew a big garden and canned without a pressure canner. I know people were tougher back then but giving handouts was simply the worst policy this gooberment ever started. With that said current pos is likely the worst of all time and I’m a history freak. You have valid points that your have posted, I guess it is how one see the problem and then a solution. #1- It is much easier to examine every policy as to its benefit or the damage it has done or did. #2- I really do not believe the same people that were poor in the 1930's are still poor in 2023. I can just use people or families i know, and mine is one of them that are much better off than back then when they lived in a wooden shack in North Georgia and worked in a lumber yard. #3- The gold standard was brought back, inflation will always be a problem when those that spend the money have no accountability for it. I cannot blame the taking away the gold standard when in essence when in my opinion something had to happen to stop the collapse of the banks and more importantly the people who lost thousands upon thousands of dollars in a flash of a moment. Again valid points you bring up, I wish there was a way things could have been done better, but put yourself in the moment, 1933, the nation is bankrupt, the world is bankrupt, so we cannot just blame FDR for the problem, he inherited it too.#4- The New Deal brought many good things that has benefited us today. One just being in our region is the TVA projects. FDR supplied job where there were no private sector jobs available. I want you to notice something here, I type the word "jobs" , in today's thinking it would be give it to them free, and never have to work for it. Imagine of you will if the government now decided instead of sitting at home to get welfare, you will be handed a job to go do and then you will receive money...I bet that will go over quite well. FDR made something out of nothing, yes it cost us but it provided many families with money to buy food and shelter, it was not just handed out freely as it is today. Just think how much any type of welfare in this nation today adds to the debt we have. Free food, free homes, free cars, free cloths, free phones, free cable TV and all the government ask of these people is vote for them at election time. If taxpayers across this country knew how they were raped by tva, well our region would be in terrible peril. I have worked on tva projects, they go like this. Build a $3.7 million dollar mechanic shop in June, tear it down in April. Replace it with a $10 million dollar mechanic shop that actually only works on highway vehicles. Destroy the coal fired plant and replace with natural gas plant that cost untold billions. It wasn’t cheap, I guarantee! A few years later, claim natural gas is destroying planet. Guess what? Reclaim everything. I have very little doubt that the electricity gained was valuable but in the end that was just a cradle to grave union contract. Actually it ties back in to your statements, pay a man to work or pay a man to throw his boots away. The bottom line is it’s waste. Oh yeah, having worked on two Tva plantations I can tell everyone that the shot mandate wasn’t enforced, matter of fact it was only mentioned once and it was put to rest. I’ll say with firsthand knowledge that the tea is a taxpayer money pit that private sector would have managed much better.

I think this is a great quote but we live in a different time and place. Our differences are much different then the past. I wish this was right but there is no middle anymore. We can't agree on killing half a baby, or building half a wall, or giving billions of dollars to laundry through corrupt government. Our country lost it's way when we put God ouut of the schools and our country. I will never agree to killing babies or man is the biggest reason of CO2. We just have to big of a divid now to turn back or fix

I just skimmed the thread but what I found interesting is that virtually no democrats are listed other than Clinton. The US was still arguably benefiting from Reagan through Bush Sr and Clinton. Clinton was conservative compared to the democratic party of today.
Where are all the far left liberals touting what Obama or Biden?
The biggest problems with Reagan or Trump were they did not control spending. Reagan spent Russia into failure and Trump never gave it much discussion.
Gingrich recently had an interesting take on where we are now in politics and what is truly happening today.
