There are so many great options that cost less than a gym membership now that it makes more sense than ever to do it. You don't need as much space as you think either.

You will never "out fitness" a poor diet but if interested in longevity then consistency is key. I learned from a sports dietitian I worked with for many years who taught all our clients the 80/20 rule with fueling. 80% of the time is regimented fueling - (3-5 'meals' a day Monday - Friday) while 20% is whatever you want (Weekends) It works well when I work IT. If I get too hard on the 20% it makes the 1st half of the week rough.

I ran 3 miles a day 5 days a week for several years but had to stop that after my hips started bothering me. At 43 y/o I now do jiu-jitsu 3 times a week, it keeps me in fairly good shape and off the bp meds. I'm thinking about buying an airbike or Peloton to help with cardio to supplement my jiu-jitsu.

To me, the temporary discomfort and hard work of exercise is much better than feeling run down all the time and having to be on meds because of poor choices.

I have 900 square feet on the second floor ( loft ) in my barn, I have a stairmaster, treadmill, bicycle, Smith weight machine, benches, dumbells, it is set up really nice, also have a living room set, big screen TV, foos ball table, beer frig. the equipment gets used about as much as the foos ball table, I need to start using it as much as the frig and the TV, lol.

Same here. Got a Concept 2 rower, resistance bike, incline bike abd about to add a treadmill. Will probably add an elliptical and an assault bike at some point soon. Got good selection of weights and kettle bells. Decent selection of resistance bands. I can get up around 0400 abd get out there and get in a good work out or wait till later in the evening. Sometimes both. The convenience factor is nice.
Our fire stations are pretty well equipped. I usually go 8n at 0400hrs and get a good 90 minutes to myself to workout then do the daily workouts along with the crew. Depending on how the 48hrs goes I get up super early on the morning I get off and it it before I go home.

Being consistent.....Weights and elliptical three times a week (running on concrete kills the knees). Fast walk with the better half two days a week and try to do 7000-10000 steps on days not officially walking. Working to get to 180, which was college weight. Nine pounds to go....

I try and use the 10 percent fun rule when it comes to eating. Every Friday night I am gonna be somewhere having a bunch of strong margaritas, chips, queso etc. Every couple weeks I will have a cheeseburger or fry fish or something, i dont diet on vacation, I dont diet on holidays. Other than that I stick to my diet. I'm trying to put on the right kinda of wieght right now and eat like a pig most days and still struggle to gain. Once you learn a few basic concepts about diet losing wieght is fairly easy. The workouts have been a nice way to bond with my son also. He is 14 and really likes lifting. We spot each other. He will talk to me about his workout program and how to adjust it. We talk about his diet etc. It has been a common activity that we needed between us. We are communicating better than we ever have since he was a little guy.

I do cardio workouts 10-12 times a week and lift weights 3-4 times a week. I typically run 3.5 miles 3-5 times a week, generally at like an 8:30 pace. Stairmaster 2-3 times a week 30-40 minutes. The rest would be walking, rucking, or elliptical cardio workouts. In terms of lifting, I do just basic vanity stuff. Bench press, dumbbell curls, leg press, leg extensions, sit ups, pushups, lat pull down. My bench sets this week are: 135 X 10, 185 X 8, 225 X 6, 245 X 4, 275 X 1, 225 X 10. My neighborhood has a nice gym that is only about a 1-minute drive from my house. That helps.

I was down to 13% body fat earlier this year, but I've popped back up a little as I started a new job and had to do a few months of wining and dining. I eat exceptionally clean during the week, but the wheels usually fall off the bus on the weekends with cheat meals and booze. I love pizza. Like WAWI I get as much help as I can legally get with substances. I have not delved into the world of peptides though.

Now avert your eyes. Here's me at 21, 31, and 41 years old. (Hoping to make 51 even better!)

Im on peptides currently well into 2nd month on them. I'm gonna do them another month or so and see what I think. Semorilin (spell check) is what I started with. I may change to ipamorilin in November

Weights 4-5 days a week. My goal is benching 3 plates, but I probably need another year or more for that, all natural here except creatinine.
