Nice fish, I bet ya'll had a blast. I wonder why the Florida did not stock the species of Peacocks that get over 20 lbs ? The species they stocked tops out around 12 lbs. I was able to fish the canals on one of our trips , but it was several years ago , after a freeze. Numbers were down. I think I landed about 10 and jumped about that many or more. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2023/08/full-470-193782-325.png) MO

That should prime you for Brazil if you can afford the trip. I did Peacock Bass in the Panama Canal too. It was fun but no comparison to Brazil where our group caught plenty of 10#+. We went with Ron Speed.Being in the canal was very cool hearing how it functioned and how much it costs for a ship to travel through it. We were visiting a friend who retired in Panama. He was ships Captain so he knew all about the canal. In Brazil wehad two over 20#. Biggest I could scare up was 16.5#. I had monster hit the Woodchopper and knock it straight up in the air. Guide said “they always come back.” Evidently the fish didn’t get the memo. We tried two hours to get another hit. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2023/08/full-27893-193860-img_1305.jpeg)

Awesome trip. How did they fight? I would say about like a smallmouth on steroids.
