you have a lot of time on your hands DF so is it an M16 A or Armalite ? Says both & as you point out the term is generic that doesn't make it correct
All M16s are AR-15s. Both are correct. You are incorrect. “Better to keep your mouth closed and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.” ― Mark Twain
"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!" ― Hunter S. Thompson

That is an iffy one and has yet to show the ability to stand the test of time. We are doing all we can to f it up lately This country was never meant to be a democracy. The Founding Fathers created a Constitutional Republic, not a democracy which always leads to anarchy. I find it telling just how many people believe we are supposed to have a democracy. Just because we have democratically elected officials and some of those refer to America as a democracy, we are still a Constitutional Republic governed by laws. Unless you don’t believe in the Constitution or its significance.

All M16s are AR-15s. Does the AR stand for Assault Rifle?

Biggest will be AI.
One of the worst: The pill and social media. I know I'll get roasted for this but I truly believe that it changed society for the worst in a big way. Look at how values changed from the sixties to now. It started with the decade of free love. Now we get abortions and having kids out of wedlock is no big deal.
Social media also allows us to say really despicable things to everyone without risking a punch in the nose.

All M16s are AR-15s. Does the AR stand for Assault Rifle? No it does not. But you already knew that. I'm not arguing that ArmaLite didn't originate the term AR-15.
