I remember the good old days 50-60's where I grew up in Floriday for a bit and fished grasshoppers, dragonflies, and even flour/water doughball, and bits of hot dog and cheese. Was happy to catch shiners, bream (don't remember all varieties), cat fish, and a rare bass all on cane pole. This was behind my Pop Pop's house on a 15'wide canal in Sarasota. Do folks' fish with can poles much anymore? I do recall a cane pole kids fish tourney at a TPW reservoir where my grandson caught his 1st. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2023/07/full-11575-192754-nathan1stfish.jpg) He actually received a trophy for the smallest bluegill caught on hook.

"Life Time Memories" Ken. One of God's huge blessings. Side Note: Every now and then I will break out the cane pole, especially on a pond full of Bluegill. Its a total BLAST!

Chuck that was moons ago and that young man now is a sophomore at Lone Star College. God has blessed. I remember that specific day like yesterday. I was so surprised to see such a whopper bite the worm piece.

Thanks Leo, Hoping that the Lord will enable me to take at least one more outing to share the waters with my 8-year-old grandson and soon.

Growing up in the 50's my Dad never owned a rod and reel, and I learned to fish with the old cane pole. I've got one that I've not broke out in a while.
Just one more cast!

I still enjoy fishing without a reel. I added line to it by Plnor fishing, but get the same excitement I had with a cane pole as a kid. Great picture.

Small farm in Milsap with stock tank in front yard not 40 yards from the front door....learned how to fish on that pond, starting with cane poles....best memories of my life right there..
Good Fishing and God Bless

I rescued my grandparents cane poles after they passed away. I caught many fish on all of them. They still hang in my guest room. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2023/08/full-107020-193409-img_8070.jpeg)
