BTW, the summer of 1980 (Look it up) was God's way of challenging this Yankee. I lived through it and more, but that was 40+ years ago.
I thought I could tough it out through August working on a road crew up here,
Nope, I gave it up today,

I was only supposed to be gone for a week and a couple days. I went into work yesterday morning and she walked over and handed me a paycheck for this week and said for me to go home. She said I deserved it and I have t really had a vacation in years. She said “plus…it’s too damn hot in here for you”. (Im the sole white guy in the shop. They must think im soft). So….im sitting in my recliner trying not to die. Till I get too bored.

Yeh. The shortness of breath was what got me fired up. I didn’t do anything physical either time this has happened.

I came from a week of running and gunning in northern South Dakota. It was really cool weather. Low 60’s-upper 80’s.

I didn’t notice a thing till I stopped for fuel in Oklahoma. The heat hit me like “wow….it’s brutal”. But, I work in the heat and always have. I have never felt like this.

Doctor prescribed Meclazine. Don’t know what it does. Haha. I don’t like taking meds.

I was really more concerned about the breathing.

I'd keep some DripDrop with me on the boat and in your vehicle...you may have become severely dehydrated and the heat hit you harder. It's been brutal. I swam 2.5 to 3 hours 6 to 7 days a week last summer and was fine. This year I'm 70 pounds lighter and only spending 1.5 to 2 hours in the pool at night and have to drink DripDrop every night when I come in...and I'm drinking 64 to 80 ounces of water a day and another 60 ounces of Diet DP, plus all the vegetables I get water from. It's just been really bad, heat wise.

My wife has searched all the symptoms and decided I have HCM (Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy).

I have taken all of the tests required to diagnose this, except one. A cardiac MRI. I have that scheduled for tomorrow.

Screw getting old!!!

I've had several bad bouts of it Steez. It's like the worst drunk you've EVER been. My first time I was on the couch one Sunday watch football. Stood up and took a step and kinds stumbled onto the loveseat next to the couch. Thought I had just stood up too soon and got a head rush. Got back up and it was "as the world turns". I get motion sickness pretty bad and I was dry heaving like crazy. Couldn't even walk. God help anyone on the road if I'd been driving. Never had ANY shortness of breath. Like others I think you got dehydrated and over heated. Dehydration can do crazy things to your body and both of your symptoms can be caused by it. If it is vertigo have your doctor prescribe you some Meclazine to keep with you at all times. It gets rid of the spinning and nausea. I eventually had to go to a specialist that treats vertigo, and it's caused from the crystals in your inner ear canal moving. Could be from bumping your head or...dehydration. They taught me the Epley maneuver and that helps quite a bit to calm it down Essentially the maneuver helps you move the crystals back into the correct place. Hope you're feeling better bud. Dizzy SUCKS!!!

It’s heat Steez, 100%, and I’ve had the same exact thing happen twice, once last Friday. I bet you’re doing the same thing I’ve been doing my whole life, fishing like a maniac all day long without eating or drinking much of anything. It happened to me once last summer and I said I wasn’t ever going to have that happen again but I slipped up last week. You have to drink a ton of water before, during, and after, with Gatorade or whatever mixed in too. Coffee and beer all day with nothing else don’t cut it anymore, as much as I hate to admit it. We ain’t 18 and bulletproof anymore. It doesn’t hurt to eat a little something, anything, too.

I can verify pickle juice and mustard are quick fixes for cramps due to hydration issues.

I would say the shortness of breath part was anxiety (think panic attack) from the sudden onset of an unknown ailment.

Yeh. That’s what leads me to think the doc ain’t got it nailed down. He did prescribe the Meclazine. I took one and I still feel kinda woozy. Not like I’m drunk. More like I’m exhausted and lazy. But when I get up, it gets weird feeling. I had trouble putting up my tools and power washer without sitting down in the boat trailer for a minute. I was scared for a bit. Never felt this way.

Belton had a local public swimming pool. You'd swim your heart out. Full sun and not drinking much. And if you got cramps. The concession sold pickles or a small cup of the juice.

It surprisingly knocks out a sour stomach. The pool water would cool you off but it'd drain your strength from exercise.

A big sour pickle took it all away.

I’m still mixing the beer in but I never, ever drank much water until it happened to me last summer.
