Spotlight a bank with RV sites at 3am with your 200,000,000 candle power spotlights? Not to mention having a generator running and cranking up your everglade flatbottom that sounds like a helicoptor?

It woke me up and I'm over a half mile from where the guys were doing the bowfishing. I thought it was a rescue coptor landing in my front yard.

Crazy

Had the same problem on CC one night a few years ago. Last time I checked there were no fish hiding in the windows or on the roofs of the nearby houses. No respect for their surroundings.

I would suspect that is just the bonus of living near a lake. I hope the guys on the boat had some luck! thumb

a buddy of mine was having the same problem with airboats, while fishing at the coast last year. i hear if you tie a good heavy torpedo bait and cast right at the fan, it's one hell of a fight.

sounds like a good job for a shotgun.... guarantee you I, along with countless others woulda been ont hebank asking them to not so politely move thier nose makers to a more appropriate place on the lake..... 3am.... constitutes a loaded shotgun pointed at you with no excuses of WHY you need to be there waking up the whole neighborhood.. and I am sure a noise ordinace comes into play trumping the "fisherman harrassment"....

I think even in Texas they have to actually be ON your property before you're allowed to use the gun.

But yeah, what happened to common courtesy in this world? Maybe I was just raised differently than most. I'm pretty sure it would occur to me that my generator and airboat might wake people up if I was fishing near homes and would do my fishing elsewhere.

agreed, it should be a calculated risk when going to the lake, its just like jet fleas running around while you are fishing your spot, they have the right, so you should go to the lake knowing that there is a possibility of bow fishers being out at night, and just think, that was just one bowfisher, and one night. bowfishing is gaining popularity, and pretty soon you may see even more, imagine trying to sleep with a big bow fishing tourney going on, lol

Most bowfisherman go to great lengths to not bother people camping or living near the bank. There are inconsiderate people in every sport, you just had the misfortune of meeting one of ours. I apologize for their behavior

Bowhunters on Fairfield are without a doubt the most inconsiderate bunch you will ever encounter. I very seldom have any who give me or any other fishermen any consideration at night. They come in very close with generator and fan motors running then proceed to go around you and continue about fifty feet on the other side. I have had more than a few hang my lines. To say it ruins the fishing for 30-45 minutes is an under statement, you might as well move. This usually happens after being sitting and fishing for over an hour, so its a known fact you are on anchor fishing.
This is not rank amateurs being as some are guide services, or at least claim to be.

Yes, if they were spotlighting while bowfishing that was inconsiderate and every sport has them. However, why would the bowfishers have a spotlight out while running the generator? The generator runs the deck lights that shine directly down in the water (however some beam reflection is possible). Also if they were "moving" from one spot to another beam reflection is highly possible as well as shining the shoreline to get bearings, make sure no one is fishing, etc, etc. Other fisherman would be doing the same thing.
You guys that want to fling rocks or "tiny torpedos". Since when does two wrongs make a right? Please act like adults and expect the same in return. I try to be as conciderate as possible, but still step on someones toes on occasion, acting like an a$$ about it doesn't help anything.
Oh, Jackieblue, how far would you like them to go out of there way so that you can keep fishing?

heck I've had em shoot at my lines once they realized we were C&R carp anglers. "Probably CAG, shoot the line" "There's one in front of them, get it" and yes these are direct quotes. When it comes to bank anglers its often intentional to screw with us. Heck we've been known to be waist deep playing a fish, they could kill someone.

****** I had a long angry section to this post. Out of respect for the peace we've recently managed to create between Carp Anglers and Bow hunters I am refraining. I will however ask that you guys try to respect us the same way we try to respect you. I don't cast toward you with a 5 oz distance lead, so don't point ANY of your hunting tools at me, bow OR lights. Fish and let fish I say*******
