The Cowboys and the City of Arlington announced the site of AT&T Stadium in July of 2004. In August the city voted to put a tax increase on the ballot to support the project. Voters approved the increase in November of 2004. It wasn't until January of 2006 that crews started tearing down the homes of residents who accepted the city's offers under eminent domain. Some refused, and the first lawsuit between the city and a property owner went to court in July of 2007...three years after the site was announced.
