Is the development in the town or the county? A friend who works at a title company tells me Todd is buying commercial property in the town of Fairfield.

Whomever said that nothing ever changes in a small should maybe check out Glen Rose. It was a wide spot in the road, then Comanche Peak Nuclear Plant was built. Their tax base went thru the roof. Now they have a great school system that is playing for state championships, new infrastructure all over town, new businesses many more people moved in because they work at The Peak. So things do change in small towns when the tax base blows up

Why does the state have to hurry? It's sort of tantamount to having a prisoner locked up on death row. He's not going anywhere.
No one in state government is paying for the property out of his own pocket, so the cost is almost irrelevant.

Nothing will change for freestone county or Fairfield. All this talk about tax base Is bs it’s gonna be the same town . J. D
You don't believe they will tax the houses and property in the development? What I think it remains to be seen if it will change the fortunes of freestone county. But yeah don’t think it will change a thing for Fairfield.

All small towns in Texas are alike, nothing ever changes. Show me town anywhere that turns away that kind of dough. The county revenue from property taxes will triple with the Todd community. From $10.5m now to $30m plus unless the project fails. Is the development in the town or the county? Same county commissioners that earlier this year signed a document with reasons that the park needed to be saved at all costs - why the change of heart? Probably cause they got lake property on the cheap like most politicians. It’s called a bribe.

I haven’t a clue but this letter does not come from the commissioners. It comes from a county judge. Since you said the commissioners signed a document earlier this year, I would like to see that and what it said. Did they have a change of heart? Only if they are also on record supporting the state park against Todd.
I am wrong but you can not prove it, you just believe it enough from the bottom of your heart.....
.......Every post you make I'll be trolling you.

Tax base increase is still the same thing. If you have an extra 5, 10 or more million tax money coming in things have to change for the better.

A state park benefits everyone in the state and some from out of state. More tax revenue for Freestone County benefits Freestone County. Why would Texas Parks & Wildlife, a statewide agency, make decisions based on how much money commissioners in one county think they are going to get?

Only if they are also on record supporting the state park against Todd. Correct, only signed by the County Judge. However if you think the Judge sent that letter without the 4 commissioners’ knowledge that is your prerogative. Did they strongly object or make an alternative view known back in January 2023 when they had a chance to give input? Doesn’t really matter, we’ll see if the State’s offer hits in August.
