Golf is 80% a defensive game. You don't have to beat the course; you have to be one stroke lower than the next guy. You've got to get these boys trash talking at a world class level as early as possible. The fine art of getting in your opponent's head and causing them to completely melt down is highly under appreciated. You don't need a short game if your opponent is shagging balls in the woods. I'd get them an air horn, a book of Bill Burr burns, and then maybe think about a solid golf coach.
They need to learn to drink heavily while playing, smoke cigarettes and leave half smoked ones burning all over course, you must be able to keep a score card for 20 dollar 2 downs in a foursome with everyone swinging everyone. You must be the life of the party in the 19th hole and be able to close it down nightly. You golfed with Lconn! I was the guy I described lol. It's why I don't play now..... it keeps the peace.

Lessons. Need a sweet swing and hit it on the exact spot on the club face. Generate club head speed.

1 if there swing is somewhat fundamentally correct, check their grip. Are they squeezing the life out of the club, grip should be tight enough that the club does not slide out of their hands, and no more. 2 are they hitting at the ball, or swinging through the ball. 3 are they swinging with their arms or their torso, you have to use the bodies big muscles. Power comes from the ground through the legs and into the body, push off the ground with their rear leg, while posting and pivoting on their front leg transferring weight is not a slide but just a twist, you probably know the hips pull the arms for contact, but as they come down keep lag in your hands. A draw goes further than fade so swing from the inside to outside the target line, 4 releasing the club as it approaches contact. letting the ball get in the way of the club.
They need to be relaxed, tension is a length killer.
If you can’t afford lessons through a PGA professional you might contact the PGA management program at Central Oklahoma in Edmond and see if they offer lesson with their students.

Didn't learn a damn thing about golf, but I did learn how to cuss and got to hear all of the stories from the previous evening's activities.

I could pretty much shoot 75 to 80 most anytime playing by myself but it was a lot more fun shooting 85 playing with my golf buddies. When we would play in scrambles people would always come up and tell us we could hear y’all laughing all over the course. That what golf needs to be. It needs to be fun, fun, fun now when they get older if they want to get serious then that is something they can decide.

Just let them have fun and distance will come as they gain a better swing, mechanics, and ball striking. Been to a lot of junior tournaments and seen a lot of long hitter kids that can't play golf and score. Short game practice is not fun but it is where you gain the most strokes.

For starters, make sure they are hitting low compression balls. They don’t have the strength to generate the club speed required to make a Pro V1 zing.
They will hate it, but gold balls made for women will closer match the swing speed of your boys, and will help with their distance.

Was one for 7 years and have been observing and directly dealing with them for, literally, all of my life.....6 decades to date. My response to CCTX's post quoted above is this.... ......you have no idea.....😉

My best friend was on the 1988 (1989?) state 4A championship winning golf team. First time I met and played with him (college) he shot a 76 and wasn’t happy. He would shoot high 60s low 70s in highschool. He would be pleased with anything under 75 in college. I watched his game deteriorate over the years, and you could see the frustration in his eyes. Just brutal.

I started in low 100's while playing a lot of baseball and softball bad combination to start golf with. LOL self taught finally got into middle high 70's but we had fun
a lot of good advice but relax and get mechanics right the rest will come over time
as said tho have fun doing it or you will never get any better
