82,000 “visitors”? Probably more like 5000 visitors going 16 times. Lol. This would be my guess. With a huge pile of those being local and generating basically no money into local economy. And they buy the annual pass I'm sure so those that use it the most are paying basically nothing.

Ok so the population of Texas is approximately 30 million. The stats say 82,000 used the park last year. I will do the math for you. The means that 0.00273% of Texans used the park(if everybody was from Texas). I just don’t see that other than you people wanting to fish there are in the majority of Texans that care too much about it. Again I have never been on the lake, I just worked for TXU/Luminant so it looks to me like Todd bought it fair and square. Next thing y’all will want is for the State to take Lake X by eminent domain. 65,000 people (certainly not all Texans) watch the Cowboys live at Jerry world for 8 weeks. They used imminent domain to take peoples houses that they'd lived in for 40 years. Nobodies house is being taken here. So which makes more sense. Take a property that 82,000 people use or take property in the middle of a city and level housing and force old people to move into housing that they probably can't afford. Just because you get money doesn't mean you can find a new place that's affordable and taxes will be more. Cowboys could have rebuilt a new stadium on the same lot. Arlington just wanted the tax revenue so screw people. Which is more fair?

They’d be stupid as f to try to get it.

i would bet that even with the free rent they have had all these years an no property taxes paid on the improvements.by the time you figure how much is paid to the state employees it is a money losing deal. most of the folks that go to the parks have a pass so not much is collected off them. imminent domain should not be used to take legally purchased property away from folks who bought it to develope it . in case you havent noticed everything is about the money.

I can't believe this is till going with the head of steam it seems to have. My take: as I have said before, is I think TP&W and there legal team and Mr. Todd and his legal team should have a "sit down" and work this out. If these folks will park their pride they can come to a compromise agreement that will work for everybody. I think Mr. Todd can do his development and TP&W can have the park and public access to the water, it's just a matter of talking it out. There's really know need for either side to dig their heels in here.

There's really know need for either side to dig their heels in here. Except Todd plans on draining the lake back 8' and selling that water which drastically changes the shoreline. He doesn't have a business plan without the money from selling the water. I don't see how you could have a compromise on this.

Where is he going to sell the water to? There are no pipe lines that carry water out of the lake. Surely you don’t think they are going to do it 1 130 barrel tanker at a time?

Where is he going to sell the water to? There are no pipe lines that carry water out of the lake. Surely you don’t think they are going to do it 1 130 barrel tanker at a time? They've always talked about selling some of the water to DFW. I don't know what pipelines they'd have to tie into. But we all know that lake has 1000's of stumps in 8' of water or less. Much of the south end is in 4' of water or less. You can't have homes around that? Also Todd himself said the water is worth more than the 110M he paid for it. He's trying to use that to jack up his appraisal. https://www.dallasnews.com/news/environment/2023/03/01/fairfield-lake-state-park-developer-considering-plan-to-sell-water-to-north-texas/#:~:text=Under%20current%20restrictions%2C%20water%20from,and%20sold%20to%20outside%20parties. https://www.texasmonthly.com/travel/saying-goodbye-to-fairfield-lake-state-park/

The wheels of government turn slowly. That they haven't turned yet doesn't mean they are never going to turn.
