Mono on topwater, cranks and jerkbaits. The rest is all debatable and technique specific.

Tried most of them and Big game for me. I buy bulk spools and it's so cheap to respool . I put new line on every 3 or 4th time out if I'm getting low.

I am one of the Old Schoolers who grew up on Big Game but when a buddy of mine John Tanner introduced me to McCoys Mean Green CoPolymer I have never looked back. It is every bit as strong as Big Game but has almost no memory especially in the colder weather months. I do use a lot of braid for my shallow power flipping, Swim Jig etc but have even gone back to McCoys on some of those techniques just because of the ease of casting, flipping and pitching. I didn't like the McCoys, its seemed more stretchy than Big Game and McCoys is supposed to be a co-poly blend.

A big bait friend of mine told me about Sunline Shooter Defier Armilo. It has less stretch than mono for rock solid hook sets. I now use 22 lb on all of my swimbait reels and 15 lb on any topwater or moving baits except swim jigs and frogs which get braid.
Less gritchin', more fishin'

I use mono for topwaters and some moving baits. I've been using Trilene XT for 25 years.

P-Line CX Premium Clear Fluorescent is what I have been using. I am not a fan of green line since I can't see it. I tried the flouro for a bit and found that if gets brittle and weak if I didn't put fresh line on all of the time. There were several times I broke my line casting and the bait flew right off.

Set the hook hard with mono.
I would suggest using a floro personally. It generally has a little less memory and a little less stretch.
If your not a tournament guy then just use big game. It's the best mono I know of.

I definitely noticed that also but for me using it on the rigs I use it on mostly moving baits - Chatterbait, Spinnerbait, Swimbait and my Carolina rig I felt that the little bit of stretch helped the fish take the bait a split second before I felt it and I have luckily caught some really quality fish and the little bit of give I think helped out. For some reason also for me I did seem to have an issue with Big Game breaking at the knot which I feel like was more an issue with me and not the actual line but I just don't have that same issue with McCoys.

Mono on all moving baits... Cranks, spinner, chatter, topwater... I want a little stretch so they can take the bait a little deeper and for the fight, especially up next to the boat with treble hooks... Floro for worms, jigs and flippin and pitchin... No braid in my boat... Dan

I'll have to try the C21. Pline CX, Pline Fluorclear, and Pline CXX are all great. Yep, CX Premium

Big Game is good mono but not as good as copolymer lines. Big Game is good for the cheap price.
