I am curious if anyone still uses only mono line for fishing? Most of my fishing life I used only mono for everything. I used 6lb mono for finesse and 12-15lb for everything else. I never had any issues with mono at any time on lakes all over Texas. But the last few years I decided to experiment with different braids and Fluro lines after reading and hearing so much about the advantages of each. After trying most of the different brands and leaders, I have decided to keep things simple and stay with my tried and trusted mono line. I guess if it isn't broke, don't try to fix it! Has anyone else done this?

Yes I use mono but I use Mc coys copoly for most it’s limp and casts good.
Also use big game mainly 15 pound. Cheap and gets the job done.
I had braid on frog rod took it off put 20 big game on never missed a lick.
Have no problem setting the hook on horny toads or floating frogs. I tried braid just not a fan.

17 lbs stren clear blue fluorescent is just about all that I use. A few reels have braid, and I tried the other ones over the years and just didn’t like them enough to justify the cost.

i use a lot of mono, from 4 to 25lb test... mostly for moving baits... florocarbon for jigs and worms and senkos... braid for flip'n heavy cover and frogs... the mono is either Stren or Trilene "green" 1/4 pound bulk spools, and I have backers on all my reels and i keep fresh mono full up to the fill line, allows me to make long cast and keep the spool speed as close to rating with consistent lure speeds... mono is still a great line, just keep it fresh...

Great for battling saltwater fish that keep pulling in open water.
Not the best for horsing lmb out of nasty cover and getting the big ones in quickly.

Never use mono any more since there are way better lines out there to use. A copolymer line is inexpensive and way better than mono.

I have been using big game 15 on all my set ups, about to put pline copolymer on 4-5 and possibly more. I still like the big game and 15 has always been the best overall # test for me, the copolymer is also 15#.

the pline is good stuff, used it on a couple of reels in the past to try out and it works good.

I use Sufix copolymer in place of mono I use it with baits with treble hooks except jerkbaits I use fluoro.
With single hook baits I go with fluoro most of the time.
Braid for frogs, buzz, big walking baits....
