Just hours after the Supreme Court struck down the president's student loan forgiveness plan, the White House came back on Friday with several avenues to support borrowers.
The Biden administration is seeking to provide debt relief under the Higher Education Act of 1965 and has initiated that regulatory process. Additionally, the Education Department is creating a temporary 12-month on-ramp repayment program that removes the threat of default if borrowers miss payments once they restart in October. Third, the administration finalized a new income-driven repayment plan that it called "the most affordable repayment plan in history."

30k in student loans presently. Never stopped making payments. 100 percent support this decision, I knew what I was doing when I took out those loans.

BTW....bashing liberals for everything means you disrespect and denigrate many of your fellow Americans.
Kinda like a blind taste test where you only know the brand AFTER you try the product…in 2023, I decided to intentionally not know the political affiliation of the people I would bash, disrespect and denigrate. I decided to evaluate the quality of their thinking skills, logic, coherence of thought…etc. Oddly, every single one of the people who deserved to be bashed, disrespected and denigrated turned out to be liberal.

ALL legit PPP loans were forgiven. That was the idea when they were made - to pay to keep people employed during the pandemic. To compare those to Student Loans that were taken out with the idea that they would be paid back is comparing apples to oranges. There is no comparison. JR

Why should they get another year??? JR

I'd like some more ppp or ERC. Those were the best. The ppp being a tax free event was really nice.

Democrat line of thought:
Former New York state Democrat Sen. Alessandra Biaggi took to social media Friday to discuss the pricey student loans she had amassed during law school, despite purchasing a $1.14 million home last summer.
"In 2012, I graduated from Fordham Law School with $180,000 is student loan debt," Biaggi wrote in a tweet. "I’ve been paying loans for 11 years. Even paid two of them off completely."
"In 2023, my balance is $206,000," added Biaggi, who represented New York's 34th district during her three-year tenure in the state Senate.

To me the bottom line is our country is over $32T in debt. We should be reducing entitlements not increasing them. The fact they gave out $200B in fraudulent PPP loans during Covid just highlights the level of stupidity in the ones writing the checks.

They sure did! Borrow= pay back. Not true. That is NOT what the Court's decision said. The court said that the President/Administration has no unilateral power to for give these loans without Congressional approval. So, now, the Administration has to go via the legislative route to get student loan forgiveness.

This decision makes feel very good. I was not going to be happy if it passed.
For the last 8 years I have busted my butt to pay all expenses for my two daughters to go to A&M College Station to get their education without anyone having to borrow a dime to do it. I’m not complaining about having to do it, it’s something I wanted to do for them to give them a great start. They are both out now but the thought of someone else getting to do the same for free does not sit well with me.

Here is what confuses ne. Many of the ones wanting it forgiven say they went to college to get a better job and earn a higher wage. Shouldn't that higher wage now make it easier for them to repay their loans?
