Looking for recommendations for a new self propelled walk behind mower. My 26 year old Honda is giving up the ghost. Started smoking badly and has a loss of power. Was a high end mower when I bought it 26 years ago and has been a great machine. Only thing I've had to do to it except for normal maintenance, was to replace the wheels, one throttle cable and several blades. Has always started on at most two pulls and cuts the grass great. Obvious choice is to 'dance with the one who brung you' and get another Honda, but things change and product reliability may have changed over the years. Only have about 6000 sq ft to mow, so a rider or zero turn would be over-kill. Not looking to spend over ~$1000. Any recommendations on what to look at and also what to avoid? TYIA

I got a honda in wyoming I may have use twice in last 5 years. I'll give you if I get it back soon. That thing vibrated so bad I wouldn't use it
I like my 30" toro walk behind the one I just bought is a 22" walk behind best pulling walk behind I've ever owned

Toro or Honda. I would not be unhappy with either if it was my purchase for a gasser.
I'm going electric when my Toro dies, if it ever does.
I am wrong but you can not prove it, you just believe it enough from the bottom of your heart.....
.......Every post you make I'll be trolling you.

EGO, battery operated. Best $500 I ever spent on a mower. Starts on the first push every time, has headlights and I mow at night when it’s hot as it is now. It’s quiet and neighbors never hear it when I mow so you can mow early too.

I have a honda, sat out in the weather for 8 months, same gas in the tank. Fired the yard guy, guess I gotta go chop hay myself. Just knew I'm going to be cleaning out carb, the gas had already turned, but three pulls and it's fired up and ready to go.
Most things just can't take that much abuse and live to tell about it.

Toro personal pace with the key start. It has a push bar that makes it go as fast as you walk so the faster you walk the more pressure you put on the push bar the faster it goes and it's four wheel drive.
