Over the last few years it seems that White Bass are getting more difficult to find on Eagle Mountain. Have the Yellows pretty much taken over?

I've been snagging about 1 White for every 10 Yellow........and haven't seen top water action there in years.....thinking may be time to switch species or lakes

Low water with no creeks for them to run up will push numbers down for a few years but they always rebound. Sandies follow boom and bust spawn cycles just like crappie. Some years youlll catch a bunch of big ones and then a bunch of small ones, usually indicates there was a dry spell where they couldn’t get up the creeks and rivers. The fish can spawn on wind blown points but I doubt it’s as successful as the creek runs with constant current.

Sand Johnny was our barometer for White bass on EM. Now he is gone, haven't fished it for sandies in years. Crappie are fine.

I fished it fro whites in the 60s -90s and it was a good white bass lake. In the last 15 years I've tried it about 5 times and only did well one time and that was north of Pelican Island. The old good structures at Pelican and south of it were empty of white bass or hybrids.

Fished it yesterday after the storm for little less than two hours prior to dark 19 Yellow Bass and 1 White bass. Those yellow bass are very very good but man you need to clean a bunch of them to make a mess.
Allen Shuler A lot of fishing A little catching Ranger 212LS Mercury 250 ProXS
