I don’t have a “best”.

For rock music, Lou Gramm should at least get a mention on this thread. Back in the day he was pretty strong.

Ian Gillan deserves a mention too. Dude was epic with Deep Purple…and he sang with Pavarotti.

Don Williams was the very first concert I ever saw when I was in the 7th grade. Great singer. He had one of the deepest voices of any human being I have ever heard.

I picked Roy Orbison because he had a true 3 or possibly 4 octave range and his voice is like no one else's. Freddy Mercury was the same, true 3 or 4 octave range and both could not only sing with, but keep up with and even challenge opera stars. Even Elvis said Roy Orbison's voice was the best he had ever heard. Roy also wrote his own music.

Someone mentioned Vince Gill and man, that fellas has some pipes too. One of the very best country music singers of all time.

"The Voice", "The Possum", George Jones! I'm stealing this thought but it's true - When George sang, you felt like you were watching the saddest movie in the world. There are plenty of great voices in Country music but I don't think any of them could move you like George Jones.

Elvis and Frank Sinatra, well, because they're Elvis and Frank. No need to say much else.

Axel Rose also had a 3 or 4 octave range. Even though it was heavy metal, Axel has a truly incredible voice.

Steve Tyler in his prime had a true 4 octave range. I think he may have it again after surgery.

Keep looking forward. That’s why windshields are larger than rear view mirrors.

Old school country, Loretta Lynn and Marty Robbins. Also partial to Merle, Conway Twitty and Tammy Wynette. But the best voice ever was Whitney Houston.

I mean, Alison loved Pete up and turned him into a horney toad with one song.
