I remember the Tactical Bassin guys did some research on jerkbaits and replacement hooks and they came up with the following recommendation for the MB Vision 110 - swap out the stock hooks and split rings for Gammy Finesse Nano AMart trebles in size 5 and use #2 Owner Hyperwire split rings - supposed to weigh the same and not effect the action

The whole bait is fragile, but they do get bit.

Something I've noticed since returning to the sport is hook quality in general not being what it was say 20 years ago. I still use Owner, Gamagatsu, Eagle Claw Lazer, VMC, etc. recently; it seems like I've had to buy the size and type I wanted and not necessarily the brand I want due to the availability of inventory at the local tack shops and sporting goods stores. I've had treble hooks break but the biggest thing I've noticed is worm hooks rusting and bad. After one or two trips to the lake they are rusted so bad the point is gone. Guessing it may be a China thing?

Guessing it may be a China thing? It may be your method of storage. I have only had worm hooks rust if I left them in a tackle box with moisture inside like after a rain storm. Each time I come home from fishing in the rain the first thing I do (and it is a pain) is open all boxes and set a high speed fan on them to run overnight. If you reel your bait in and throw it in a box and close it up while its still wet, it will cause rust.

Something else I will add to the post about trebles. Many companies heat treat their hooks to harden them. While this process is effective it can also make the hooks brittle. So there is a fine line between making the wire stiff so it flexes less on hookset and leaving them in the kiln for a minute too long and making them brittle.

Ken I have all my hooks stored in a Plano tackle tray that I have used for years and nothing rust in the box at all, it's the hooks that I have exposed to lake water. It could be an issue with salinity of either Cooper, Fork, Sandlin, or Lake Holbrook but I've fished them before and never had issues.

I've been to all those lakes many times and never had an issue with hooks rusting. You might try a desiccant pack in the box with the hooks. https://a.co/d/6Hds2QP

No issues with rust in my hooks and boxes either. What I do is hold the baits in my hand and wave it around a few times before putting them up. Never put a bait up wet nor do I store my hooks with any plastics still attached.
