I previously had 2 gen 1 helixes networked thru the 5 port hub and they had no issue. I replaced one with a Helix 15 and no issue. I the replaced another with a G4Nhelix 10di and added a Mega livescope. They were communicating properly but I was having some issues with the livescope connecting. I would lose megalive and would have to unplug the hub then plug back in to get it to work. I can see it on both FF but now when I try to share the SI transducer, one unit is blacked out. It will occasionally work for about 5 minutes but then it will turn the other unit black and not let them share. I also have a G1 helix 10di that I use only as mapping but it will never connect to any other unit on the network. Everything on the boat has been updated as of yesterday.

Any idea of what the problem is? I am thinking maybe the IP address issue but am not sure how to change that. Everything seemed to be OK until I put the MLS in but I remove that and it still has issues and even when the unit is blacked out in network settings, they both show the MLS screen when it is active

Swap the Ethernet cables around on the Ethernet Switch as well as the Ethernet Adapters on the cables. May have a faulty connection or bad port on the Switch.

I am still having the same issue. I might get it to network and stay on for 30 minutes or less but it will always lose connection. All of the cables are working and I checked the power. It all worked perfect until I swapped out 2 gen 1 units to 2 gen 4 units. All units have been updated and reset, I have also gone thru a procedure I found on another site to change the IP. Get it to work on land and a few minutes later it stops. I have been able to unplug power to the 5 port hub and reconnect and it will usually bring them all online for a few minutes.

I am leaning towards a bad hub but before I spend that much I am looking for how to best test the current hub. When I go home I will try using both gen 1 units and see if it works. I currently kept an old unit on the boat for mapping and it will never connect to the new units to share way points. Getting frustrated trying to fix this or sell my ff sonar transducer and forget about it

Does he hub fell warm when it loses connection? The 30 minute timing is interesting. I would network them without the hub and see if they stay connected. FF to FF sharing side scan transducer. Then Mega live to each FF. Good luck...

No it hasn't felt warm. I ran the ff transducer directly to the front ff and had no issue. I am changing my trolling motor to an ultrex now and adding a 360. I have rewired everything and will see what happens now. The ultrex has built in MDI and it connects with the 360 so I am back to having to run the FF thru the hub. Going to update everything and see what happens.

I have a neighbor with two Helix 10s 1 - g3n si, 1 - g4n di, mega 360 and mega live all networked through a 5 port hub that is having "lost sonar information" problems. I'm going to try to help him with it. If we find a fix I will share it. good luck with you issue.

My neighbor and I did troubleshooting on his network issue a couple of days, checking power and network connections with no luck. He informed me the problems had started shortly after doing an software update using the One Boat Network app without restoring defaults prior to doing the updating on either of the Helix units. We did a factory default restore, reset the network parameters. Restarted the system and the problems seem to have went away.

Two things don't match.
This is in the software description:

1. "The defaults will be restored when 2.800 is installed."
That means it was done automatically whether the instructions were followed or not. It was added to the software about 2011 because of units getting bricked by not doing it and had to be sent in for re-programing.
2. "New Features:
Added Support for the One Boat Network App "

That means the software adds the capability to do updates via the One-Boat-Network App and the NEXT update can be done that way.

So sounds like your telling me he couldn't have done any updates with the One-Boat-Network App until he did the update 2.80 with a sim chip? I run Garmin in my boat so I'll take your word for it.
I guess doing the restore to defaults is what fixed his network problems. I'll check with him to see what software version his Helix units have installed. He most likely needs to do 2.80 with a sim chip so it will update.
Thanks for the info.

(Wayne P.) My neighbors Helix units were not upgraded to the 2.80 update so we did it with a sim chip, now it up to date software wish and should able to update with the phone app.

While downloading the update from Humminbird I did see in the instructions that the defaults will be restored when the update is installed. However further down in the instructions this was listed:

" We highly recommend that you RESTORE the defaults on your unit BEFORE you perform any software update."

He understands now not to do it but it is confusing.
I apologize we got off the original post problem.
Thanks for you help on this...

That part of the instructions is a carry-over from the older instructions. It will get done either way. At least you read it, seems that is too much for some to do and why it is automatic now.
