If John Garrett can keep the pace he should leave Wheeler with a good lead over the EQ field.
Milliken with another good day 1 showing.
Panger back to doing Panger stuff. I do not fault him for chasing the dream but he really should take KVD's advice about not losing BTL, needs to either pre-record more shows or at least throw in a live show in the evening while at the opens.

If we’re talking about the open. You better be talking about Trey McKinney. 18 years old and having a heck of a year so far leading going into day 2. I’m betting he is fishing with the big boys next year. Pretty impressive young man.

You are right, I missed that all together. He is having a great year as well it appears.

With FFS now happening so much, Being a coangler is money thrown away now. It’s not fishing anymore but more less casting into space

Can’t blame them. As long as FFS continues to be a thing in tournament fishing, those numbers will continue to dwindle. Coangler is a huge profit center for those tournaments.

I'm surprised there are that many to would pay to sit in the back of the boat to begin with.....

they will pay to sit in a boat without a pole and watch others fish

then they like to talk about it and say things like, "we were on a good spoon bite" or "we caught them good in the morning"

I think by now it's pretty obvious that coanglers do not impact any of the pro trails as much as once thought.

Wonder if the Pro was ok with it bass would have co-anglers brining one of those ice fishing live scope packages? That way they could try and scope off the back? No idea how they would mount it, but I agree that being a co angler these days is just about a waste of time if you get someone wandering around scoping

It’s always amazing me how pompous and perfect some people on here are. Have y’all ever thought that maybe some guys just want to be in mix or in the “big” show for most of them this is their only chance to be in a tournament of this level…I say to each their own. coolio

I'm not against coanglers in the least. I fished a few Everstsrts as one back in the day. I just pointed out that the pro trails seem to not be as impacted by them as once thought.

Lol, these are just the same guys that get defensive about FFS every time. Not sure what he means by ‘they don’t impact the sport’ but I think the coangler is great for the sport and gives people another option to fish within their means and keeps each other honest. The coangler program is a huge profit center for the opens. I would say losing a million dollars profit, for the most part over the course of an open season, is a pretty big impact

If it's such a profit driver for the two top circuits why did they do away with coanglers? They had half a field of coanglers in this event but it still went on as scheduled. My point is these pro trails have de-emphasized the coanglers steadily the past decade or so.Top two got completely away from coanglers while the next tier have de-emphasized them.
Not sure how that is taken as an insult by saying it out loud but it's hard to deny that they have done it but are still having tournaments and full fields on the pro/boater side. Neither organization has really missed a beat without them. I re-read my other comments on this thread and missed where I disparaget coanglers in any way or said that I am against them. I know there was a time 10 years or so ago where some felt their impact was a driver of both leagues. Now about a decade later it's hard to say that .

I'm no FFS hater. My boat has Livescope and Mega 360. Will probably be using both tommorrow.
clap
