Monday night, the Russian armed forces launched an unprecedented missile attack against the Ukrainian capital of Kiev. At least 18 state-of-the-art Russian missiles were used in the attack. Six Kh-47 hypersonic missiles were launched from MiG-31K aircraft, surface combatants from the Black Sea Fleet fired nine Kalibr cruise missiles, and land forces in Occupied Ukraine launched three Iskander-M semi-ballistic missiles. This attack was supported by six Iranian-designed Shahed 136 suicide drones and three Orlan-10 reconnaissance drones to evaluate the operation.

It's a meaningful change to the world. Until this happened the presumption was Russia had some missiles that could operate with impunity. Clearly, that is not the case and the balance of power shifts further in our direction.

Maybe I am just seeing one side of this, but Russia seems to be taking it on the chin the last few months. Glad to see it...

Has to be absolutely demoralizing to the Russian public. They've known that they live in a failed, corrupt culture/society; but, they now recognize that the extent of the rotten decay has terminally crippled their military/defense.

The latest estimates I've seen are 5-1 casualties in favor of the Ukrainians. A lot of reports are saying the Russians have 20,000 - 30,000 dead in the last 2 months in Bahkmut. They started with 150K, and added another 350K. But since the start between death and injuries, they've lost close to 350K. Of course, it's hard to really know as all information gets spun. What I know for sure is I've seen a LOT of dead Russians on Twitter. Everything is on film these days. These guys are going into combat with GoPro's strapped on their heads and drones filming from the sky. Yesterday I watched a half dozen Ukrainians fighting a half dozen Russians in trenches. Eventually, the Ukrainians got the best of them and mowed them down in the trench. I'm also seeing a lot of dehumanization. The Ukrainians are now regularly referring to the Russians as "Orcs." War is UGLY.

Shooting down a ballistic missile is a whole different ball game. Most will be sea launched.

I'm still waiting for the Ukrainians to get fighter jets. I want them to start bombing Russia. Then hopefully the citizens will revolt.

This would be bad for everyone. The Ukrainians can hold the moral high ground up to the point they cross into Russia proper. At that point things get grey and Putin is legally allowed to use nukes. (by legally I mean, his own laws allow it). Not that he couldn't use them right now if he wanted to, but you get what I'm saying.

That was everyone's hope a year ago, but it seems unlikely now. Russian oligarchs have been falling off buildings or moving out of the country. Clenseing the society of dissidents is the only real sucess Putin has had.

They would have fought and likely died to the last man without help. I saw videos very early on where old ladies were welding up anti-tank obstacles. The whole country was in, to the bitter end. These people are not asking us to fight for them, they are just asking for weapons. Ukraine is far from a perfect country, but strategically it's in our best interest that Russia be checked. It seems likely now Ukraine will eventually prevail and one of our biggest global adversaries will be diminished into something inconsequential.
