I don't have a lot of answers for the questions you guys asked me. I don't think an attempt at confiscation over here would be wildly successful, so I don't know what kind of effect it would have on murders.

I just think, though, that people will eventually get tired of hearing about mass shootings, because if we are being real about it, not much is being done about it at the moment (whatever that might be). People can talk about mental health all day, but there is so much gray to that area that nothing will change on that front before that tipping point I mentioned is reached, and the one concrete and tangible thing to go after is the firearms. Eventually the political fortitude will be matched with public support and you'll start seeing that needle move with regard to action being taken against firearm possession, IMO.

I have no fix to suggest for any of this, but I also think I can see pretty clearly where some of this is going to go.

It would obviously be ideal if people would just stop randomly shooting other people, but America seems pretty adept at producing violent imbeciles, so I'd imagine that is far too much to hope for.

So...I dunno, we'll see how it goes. I do think it's coming, though.

So let's take up the guns, then we can take up knives when stabbing go through the roof, after that bats..... we don't have a gun problem. We have a bunch of problems that walk around amongst us. Why don't we just ban the nuts......

I think every citizen should be issued a handgun. If everyone had a gun, these chicken [censored] nuts wouldn’t get past the first pull of the trigger before someone would drill em in the head. Might be more random gun violence, but the mass murdering would come to a stop asap.

With that said, I'd rather take on a dude with a knife or a bat than a guy that has an AR and a half dozen magazines on his belt. 10 times out of 10 I'm choosing bat or knife guy.

That's why I think that any solution to our clear societal mental health problem lies beyond the horizon of our tipping point. The guns will be targeted first. I can almost guarantee that, I think.

we had a gun "buy back" here several years ago and I'm told most of the guns turned in had serial numbers filed off and were stolen....

austin had a gun buy back a couple of yrs ago. The guns that were turned in were the exact opposite of what they wanted. There were BB guns and pellet guns. Folks got $200 each for those LOL
