Original TC Hall on Jim Miller and Lake June

My grandfather used to take me there once a week, they had so much stuff in that smallish store

That was a great place but growing up in Oak Cliff and going to high school with Jimmy Smith there was no place better than Smittys Sporting Goods with Jimmy and his family. What great memories.

Doug I never went there. I’ll bet it was awesome though. The old time fishing tackle stores were so awesome.

Growing up in Grand Prairie, traders Village was always something to do. There was an old man that ran a tackle shop in there, and it was called “i’d rather be fishing”. Man he had that place stocked up. I used to spend hours in there, checking the stuff out and that’s where I bought all of my beats when I first started bass fishing as a kid.

In Grand Prairie, we had walkers sporting goods, and also had AAA Fiberglass, both in downtown grand Prairie. Walkers had everything, including boats. AAA had a much smaller selection, but he always had some stuff you couldn’t find anywhere else.

My grandfather owned several grocery stores and a couple of butcher shops, and one being in Oak Cliff we frequented Smitty’s as well. I still have some honey hole spinner baits, in the package, i got from there.

When I was growing up he Sporster in Tyler was awesome! My mother or dad would drop my brother and me off there and go do whatever they had to do that day and then come back and pick us up. I couldn't hardly afford anything in there but would come out with maybe a pack of Creme worms and some H&H's. I was always excited to go there.

TC Hall was a great tackle shop. They had lots of good stuff. Great people.
I lived in Oak Cliff. My buddy and me would ride our bikes to Smittys. It was heaven on earth for us.
Not only was it an awesome tackle shop but a meeting place for the top tournament bass fishermen of Dallas.
They would go there on their lunch break and talk fishing. As kids we would listen to their every word.

There was a good tackle shop in Garland, near Lake Ray Hubbard, in the 80's and 90's. Near the DPS off I-30.

I think they were a Tracker boat dealer and they had a bad [censored] worm bar! The name escapes me...

I’ve forgotten the name but the place out on the Benbrook traffic circle in west FW was also an awesome place. They always had all the high-end browning equipment and several other high-end robs brands that you couldn’t find anywhere else.

Farther east, out in Lindale, that shop that TFP used to run was also a cool shop that always was well stocked with stuff that you didn’t find at Walmart and Academy. I could look around in there for hours.

I know of only one place around here that has a worm bar still...I stop by there 2-3 times a year to stock up on beaver style baits.
