I've eaten at #2. Eichsens. It is great! Be aware though, they have not hostess or assigned seating. You literally have to stand by the table of someone leaving and grab it when they stand up.

Joe Allens Pit BBQ in Abilene. Last time I ate there was 1985 or 86, I was doing some short term work at the TI site there. At that time it was "THE BBQ" place. I remember the food was great.

Chicken Lips, Sun Prarie Wisconsin. Best chicken wings in the country. Complete dive. I once offered the owner $5,000 bucks and a non-compete for his dry rub recipe and he turned it down.

Pat's BBQ in the middle of nowhere outside Chapel Hill is great. I think it's one of those "we're open until we run out of meat" places. I also think they are only open a few days a week. Don't worry about safety eating in a run-down building. There will be a couple of sheriff's deputies or DPS officers coming in to eat before long.

We deployed there in 84 or 85. We went to a restaurant in a hotel that served the finest steaks I've ever seen. Wish I could remember the name. SAC life.

Leonard's Barbecue, Memphis, Tennessee.

We always look for the dive bars and diners. Ski boy burgers at Ft cobb lake are the best around
