Just one more huge tournament on the lake this month. Has nothing to do with the age of the fishermen it has to do with the number of boats hammering the fish.

See you on the lake and have a great day!

False, it used to have a slot and there was not even a fraction of the tournaments that hit that place every weekend. The Elites couldn't even consistently catch a limit out there during the Bassmaster Classic, SIX of the top ten ended up with less than 15 fish (5 each day) isn't that kind of sad? I'd say Champs, TTO, and TXTT are all relatively NEW considering the first 30 years of the lakes existence they were never there. To act like this is always how it's been is asinine to me. Most of the people out there are not fun fishing, they are practicing and then competing in these big events.

Also, only the first sentence was directed at you Bandit, most of the rest of it was directed at buda13's silly post roflmao

I can tell u don't have a clue about what i am saying . I fun fish , not on weekends . roflmao

You are correct, were you trying to say that you catch small fish? I was only saying that RR used to have a slot and there were less tournaments on it back then.

Most high school teams never catch any bass just boat traffic. Out of over 200 teams half will not catch anything and another 40-50 teams will only weigh one fish in. Only the top six or so teams will catch any weight.

I spent a week a Ray Roberts this week and the thing I took away from it was how great of a lake it could be if they raised the level 2 feet Jan-May. It has plenty of big fish but seemingly small population. Majority of the shoreline cover barely touches the water. With no grass, the fry and fingerlings were getting picked off by the gar and whites. There is no place to hide and grow.

Raise the lake level during Spring and watch it explode. Until then, , y’all can have it!! Lol

“No grass” wasn’t literal. But I wouldn’t define Ray Roberts as a grass lake by any means. The lake was pretty muddy most of this week so that might’ve hid some.

I think I’ve heard you’re a stick on Ray Bob so I’ll take your word for it though. What’s your thoughts on raising the lake level a foot or two? I just saw a lot of potential there.

No stick that’s for sure. Used to fish it 6 days a week back in the day. I mean at this point nothing would hurt! Tpwd ignores it, most heavily pressured lake in dfw, so much potential but this the most grass it’s had in a long long time and there is even hydrilla and acres of it. This is by far the hardest pounding it’s ever gotten in April so who knows.

Man, I spent 5 days there in the last two weeks and I never found acres of hydrilla. I only saw small patches here and there. Most of the patches looked like my shop vac filter they were so full of mud and dust. I grew up around Ray Roberts and I am amazed at how much it has changed. It appears to me like it has a small population of fish because the spots don’t reload like you would hope and it responds horribly to pressure. However, it can grow absolute giants. The absence of small fish, the DFW fishing pressure, and the out of control gar population makes me think it’s headed for hard times.

Agreed! IMO, go back to the 18" min slot and 3 fish limit. The lake doesn't have the the creeks and rivers to bring in new fish.

I thought the slot on Roberts had been 14-24"
