It's my home lake...I'm not quitting fishing it ever. There's plenty of white bass and crappie in it to have fun. I'll pick up the bass gear in a month or so and have fun.

Not me. I’ll still be there fishing every weekend if I’m in a tournament or not.

This happens everywhere on every lake. Someone goes out, pulls up on a shad spawn or brush pile and catches five or more big fish that are in the right place at the right time. People see that they caught a huge sack and say, "The lake is on FIRE!" I live in Tyler. The same thing happens here. Someone catches a big fish or a big bag and guys can't wait to get on the water. Then they get out there and hardly get a bite. We actually joked about this at our last bass club meeting.

On Saturday I was in community ( for those of you that don't know Roberts its not very big and called community for a reason) and counted 21 boats. The pressure is ridiculous. The amount of high school boaters practicing seemed to be just as many as TTO. I told my partner this is the most insane chit I have ever seen on this lake. Boats in every creek every 25-40 yards. I don't care if I would have won TTO... that many boats on that lake is not a enjoyable day on the water period.

The lake is not even close to what it was or I believe can be if stocked well and allowed time to recover. There are so many lakes to choose from, simply spread the tournament pressure out a little. If we were stocked like Fork it would be different but we are not. Go hammer Lewisville or Joe Pool or Lavon for a couple of years good grief! And recreational pressure, other than during covid when no one was at work, does not even come close to 200 plus boat tournaments every weekend during the peak spawning month on the lake!

Perfect conditions? You mean post front, 48 degree morning with north winds, turned bluebird at 10am, 1/2 the Lake chocolate milk, and dropping an inch or two a day? How about the fact that it took 17 lbs to get a check and 33 bags over 16 lbs in those conditions. How about the Tuesday night tournaments? Last night 3 fish for 19 lbs to win, 2nd place had a 10 lbr, and then the week before TTO 3 fish for 17 lbs won. I get that you live near the lake and all, but dude you are truly clueless. I get that you hate the crowds and tournaments but don’t talk like you’re in touch with the fishery just because it’s in your backyard. I’m not saying it’s excellent, but it darn sure isn’t what you’re saying it is. Perhaps some Bill Dance videos would help you sharpen your skills and catch a few more.

Champs and TTO have been going to ray bob in April for 6+ years, TXTT shows up about every 2 years in April. Nothing new here. Also want to note that none of these organizations release the fish at the back marina ramp.

Completely agree with Bassbuster

If they put a slot in like Fork , there would be more tournaments ,because a small fish could win some money . If they payed by the hour

False, it used to have a slot and there was not even a fraction of the tournaments that hit that place every weekend. The Elites couldn't even consistently catch a limit out there during the Bassmaster Classic, SIX of the top ten ended up with less than 15 fish (5 each day) isn't that kind of sad? I'd say Champs, TTO, and TXTT are all relatively NEW considering the first 30 years of the lakes existence they were never there. To act like this is always how it's been is asinine to me. Most of the people out there are not fun fishing, they are practicing and then competing in these big events.

Also, only the first sentence was directed at you Bandit, most of the rest of it was directed at buda13's silly post roflmao

I know we wouldn't drive 200 miles up there this weekend if we weren't prefishing. We'll be back on the 29th for the tournament.

The last time I was on the lake was during last year's tournament. I won't be back until next year's tournament, either.

No, coming up Saturday night to fish Sunday. We're fishing another tournament Saturday.

I’ve noticed people get real concerned about pressure on a lake whenever high school fishermen have a tournament.
