These triploids were only supposed to survive 12 years and be incapable of reproduction. Something is not right.

has anybody tried to throw some hydrilla in purtis creek? I know a guy who feels rather than Shar A Lunker we should be running a hydrilla sharing program... TPDW disagreed with him though and keeps messing with those big ol bass.

FUBAR and TPWD mean the same thing. TPWD sure can breed and stock fish, but they will never grow a state or world record until they focus on habitat, unfortunately the best bass habitat is labeled an “invasive” species. If it didn’t “invade” into the wake board lakes and make a bunch of sissy’s complain they would leave it alone. But TPWD proves time and time again they don’t care to effectively manage hydrilla. Or stand up to the other organization’s that continuously spray harmful chemicals into our lakes so that hydrilla and other grass is killed. That’s the tragedy of Purtis, it has no pleasure boaters, HOA’s, or other voices that demanded grass eradication on other lakes. Supposedly, the grass made bank fishing too difficult and was hazardous in the swimming area and supposedly they only meant to treat it enough to control that grass but unusually high rains and the grass carp were too much for the vegetation. Who knows. They did try to have carp tournaments to catch some and tried replanting of native species/added structure with little positive impact. However, I had one of my best nights ever for numbers out there after the grass was gone. I lost count around 70, most were 14-16 inch healthy 2-3lb fish with a monster that got off. It was right before a big front and all other conditions were perfect. Never been able to replicate that unfortunately. Usually 2-3 bites is now the norm, yep much rather go a few miles further to Athens.

I It’s depressingly barren like the surface of the moon with pitiful penned in areas where TPWD is trying to establish native vegetation. The little fenced in areas of "native vegetation" are such a joke. It's bad enough that TPWD and homeowners team up to eradicate fish habitat, they then further insult us with those idiotic little pens.

has anybody tried to throw some hydrilla in purtis creek? First of all, it is illegal ...if you get caught, you have problems. More importantly the grass carp are still there so they would just eat it up. Only if you get caught
I got all day I’m retired

Saw this for the grass carp record on Purtis Creek …………………….……………………….that bait has got to be hard to harvest & expensive. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2023/04/full-77639-179471-40029106_594f_4645_974d_b2c4df4e244f.jpeg)

Least all of you are that much younger than me or don’t remember that not only was my tax dollars spent to make a FISHING lake solely for recreation for the tax payers in Texas. No water storage, no water front homes, no water skiing…..more specifically managed by TPWD for TROPHY BASS! 🤔🤷🏻♂️🙄

To answer to OP's question. Only been there once, about a month ago. Caught some 5/6 pounders sight fishing, then caught about 25 on one little offshore spot I stumbled on. Good fishing in my book

The most comical thing I've seen on TPWD page is under Purtis Creek, "Fishing Cover/Structure." "Hydrilla was a problem in the past, but the park staff currently has this invasive plant under control." Page

Ya, another “miscalculation” by the TPWD biologists in charge of this fiasco is the supposed sterile grass carp either are not sterile or they live way longer than anticipated.

Fun fact, some species of carp can live 30+ years.

TPWD is already working on stringent statewide regulations governing the amount of aquatic vegetation that grass carp are allowed to consume on public lakes.
