I remember hearing it but thought it was dumb. There were and are better fish attractants. I use to put garlic salt in my packages. Now I just spray some bang or whatever after I rig my plastic and let it sit a few minutes.

Wouldn’t that make it WD41? I mean the whole WD40 name stands for “Water Displacement Formula no 40” cheers

I remember hearing about it when I was a kid and sprayed it in the 3 or 4 packs of worms that I had. About a month or 3 later, the worms were still fine but the packages were disintegrating. This would've been in the early 80's.

I don’t even know how many decades back this was supposed to have been, I’m sure google search would know. I had an uncle experiment while catfishing, which obviously smell a lot better than a bass does. The bait sprayed didn’t work any better than the stuff not sprayed.

We used to spray wd 40 on cut bait to catch reds at night. Definitely made a difference. Haven’t done that in years.

Well, the WD40 website says “it does NOT contain any fish oil” and they do not recommend it as a product used for bait. So, it was just a myth and all the old timers were wrong. Case closed…..

Never used it for fishing. I have used it on my tendinitis's when I was younger for my wrist...it may have even worked too.

I knew a guy who owned a worm company in the 90's put a whoopin on me at Fayette. He used WD40, and I used my worm. Don't know if it was the Arrow or the Indian, but I can say he kicked our butts fishing a carolina rig. All fishing in the same boat.

No WD40 but still use LFT Hawg Wild or Bang Garlic.
